Decided to enter the Flavel House Museum, which is a former home of a prominent Astoria Oregon resident, Captain George Flavel. Lots of woodwork and furnishings from the late Victorian Period. The person in charge was knowledgeable and made the visit worthwhile.

If you enjoy touring homes, this place shouldn't be missed. We watched the video to get the history of the home, and then took the self guided tour. There are great descriptions in each room. The guide in the home is there to answe any additional questions. She had given us some other ideas on what to see since we were only here a day and they were perfect!

This was an interesting place to see a beautiful, old home that has been restored very nicely. The craftsmanship is evident on the outside, as well as the inside. It's worth the time and money to take a stroll through the house.

This historical site really fed our appetite for getting into the history of Oregon, generally, and Astoria specifically. Leaving, I felt as though I really had insight into the Flavel family and everything they did for Astoria.

There is a 13-minute film that is worth watching that will orient the visitor to the Flavel house and would recommend that you watch it.

Parking is easy to find around the home and cost of admission is minimal.

Must see if you are visiting Astoria and interesting in getting into the minds and lives of the early founders and pioneers of the area.

But people stepped up and preserved and restored an excellent piece of architecture and history as well as a glimpse of a man that built it!
