While looking for a place to grab some lunch while on vacation in Astoria, I led my family to Coffee Girl. It sits inside the old Bumble Bee Cannery at Pier 39, and is still in the same location that it has operated out of for decades. Having a rich history of making coffee for the women that used to work in the many canneries and fish packing companies throughout Pier 39's history, it was no surprise that the coffee was superb. A 12oz cup is great and relaxing choice for those coffee connoisseurs who wish to sample all of the coffee that Astoria has to offer. The coffee itself is on the bolder side, which I like. However, it has a lightness to it that will please those with a craving for a weaker brew.
Along with the large selection of coffee, tea, and other drinks, a large and satisfying breakfast and lunch menu is available as well. The paninis are great, but such items and others related to it are made to order so it will take some time to get your food. Yet, the food is only one part of the Coffee Girl experience.
Resting right along the Columbia River and Pier 39's end, Coffee Girl has great views of the water and Washington on the other side of it. It's great to sit by one of the many windows that look out over the River, and on a clear day one can see the Astoria-Megler Bridge and beyond. If it's not too cold, rainy, or windy outside, you can step out to the wooden railing of the pier and get an even greater view.
Coffee Girl also has free wifi for those who wish to get some work done or do some research without eating away at your battery life.
Whether your looking for a place to grab lunch or breakfast, wanting some solitude, or hoping to see a great view, Coffee Girl can grant you all of these wishes and more.
