The Cannery Pier is a beautiful property right on the fantastic Columbia River. Each room has a gorgeous view of the river. The rooms are decorated beautifully and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. There is a restaurant within walking distance, and the hotel is located centrally in Astoria. They serve wine and cheeses in the evening and a continental breakfast in the morning. We came when it was stormy and rainy, but the rooms are so comfortable we felt cozy and warm by the fireplace. There are a few vintage cars parked in the hotel and they are used by a chauffeur that will take you anywhere you want to go. It is fun just to look at the cars and super to have one available to take you where you want to go EVEN if you have your own car. The Cannery Pier is worth every penny and definitely a return stop.

Room Tip: Book early, except for the winter months. Stay on an end unit as windows surround the room.

What a great charming inn sitting in the Columbia river. The views from our room was spectacular. They offer wine and cheese from 5 to 6 which is a nice touch but the amenity that we enjoyed the most was spence chauffeuring us to and from dinner in downtown Astoria. Spence gave us a tour with a lot of heartfelt local knowledge. Wonderful experience!

First time at this motel and will return. View from the rooms of the Columbia River and its traffic were impressive. All of the staff we interacted with were very knowledeable and gracious. Only downside is their is no onsite restaurant. They do offer a very good continental breakfast however and complimentary wine, lox and cheese in the evening.

Room Tip: All rooms are river views.

We have stayed at this hotel several times. Really can't say anything bad about this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and comfortable bed. You can take a bubble bath in a clawfoot tub, open the bathroom shutters and watch the Columbia River go by. The pre-dinner wine and salmon sampling in the lobby is the best. Walk the hallways and look at the pictures to reminisce about the past of this historic building. The hotel has a quaint gift shop to satisfy the gift giver. When you are headed to dinner, let the staff drive you to dinner in one of their classic limo type cars to a wonderful selection of dining choices. When you get back, spend some time on the small balcony and watch the huge container ships go by your window. On nice sunny days, take one of the free use pedal bikes down the boardwalk to the city center. Don't forget the fresh baked cookies after dinner waiting for you at the front desk. All in all the Cannery is a great experience.

We loved this place. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the location, right on (literally) the Columbia River is fabulous. Our room was beautiful, they even provide a pair of binoculars to use to check out the busy river in front of you. Great breakfast buffet with very fresh fruit salad, and complimentary wine and cheese from 5 to 6 daily.

Room Tip: As far as I could tell all the rooms are fantastic, being right on the river.

Bring your own fun. Family, not so much. Fifi, not really. Only if you intend on staying in your room with them the entire time but enjoy a long stormy walk to the "grassy area" from time to time. Figurado? The buiding is built on lots of wooden piers so smoking is extremely forbidden, except out in the rain with Fifi. Football analog quality or go join up with the locals at Wet Dog Café, where you can also get Food. Actually Baked Alaska is just across the way from there, with an excellent menu. All of that to say that although an overall nice design, the CPH is as cheaply built as it’s bland logo would indicate, it is a romantic setting so plan accordingly, get the King Suite and bring a mini sound system. . oh, and Bring Your Own coFFee. Really we enjoyed our stay, but it could have been better if we had known what to expect. "Fins, Finns and Astorians" available in the gift shop.

Room Tip: Two smallish queen beds may or may not be a good thing. I'm not sure how the climate control wo...

The beds are great, the complimentary breakfast & evening wine, cheese and crackers are fine. There is no on-site restaurant, which was a bit of a problem for us. They are pet friendly, so we took our small, 7-lb Pomeranian. Unfortunately, he would rather have spent his time at home and the Pet Area was far from our room. He was totally FREAKED OUT by walking on the pier and it was hard to take him out late at night and early in the morning. I would say our trip to the Cannery Pier would've been better if we hadn't taken our dog, or if they had restaurant with an outdoor patio where we could have eaten with out dog with us. The hotel was nice. The beds were GREAT and I wish I had a bathroom like this one - very nice, large with tub and separate shower. I would just say it wasn't a great fit for us and I don't know that I'd recommend it for folks with pets - you won't be at the hotel much of the time.

Room Tip: I think all the rooms are probably good.
