“Very nice getaway place”
Reviewed 26 October 2010

My wife an I enjoyed a single night at the Cannery Pier (the 4th of July), in order to escape the noise from all the fools lighting off firworks on the 4th this past summer. The hotel is aptly named as it is located out on a pier-type structure at the foot of the enormous bridge that runs between Washington and Oregon. It is an interesting and beautiful location with large ships passing right by the hotel on the Columbia River.

The hotel is a modern, cozy place with lots of character (in spite of being new). It has a romantic feel to it. The front desk staff were very accomodating and easy to deal with. The room was terrific, great bed, nice bathroom, even a pair of binoculars to watch the passing ships. There was a little happy hour in the lobby while we were there. There are several good restaurants in walking distance from the hotel, as well as a nice footpath along the shore.

I can heartily recommend the Cannery Pier and will certainly be back.

Have you ever spent a romantic day, evening or morning actually in a hotel that is IN THE RIVER? Not on the shore of the river but actually out beyond the shore and so IN THE RIVER. And not just a stream or a ordinary river, this is near the mouth of the COLUMBIA RIVER! Mindboggling!

And the rooms are created and appointed as if for special friends. You feel at home immediately, the home of your dreams. Luxury and little details done right abound.

And the folks who work there, and the varied guests you meet, and the constantly changing and exciting location makes this a MUST whenever I go to Astoria. Don't miss this adventure!

Stayed at the Cannery which played host to a wonderful weekend for me and my girlfriend. The room was beautiful, had a great view - a perfect setting for our romantic get away. Earlier that day I played a round of golf nearby and my girlfriend had a wonderful spa at the hotel. After an early check-in (thanks for having the room ready early) we came downstairs to a happy hour to mingle with guests before heading to downtown Astoria for a fine dinner. The hotel gave us a ride to and from the restaurant in one of their vintage cars, which a fun way to get around.

The Cannery was a great homebase for our adventures - we got a boat tour of Astoria Harbor, used their bikes for a fun way to explore the historic city and read the morning paper while enjoying a free breakfast.

Thumbs up from both of us who thoroughly enjoyed out stay at the CanneryPier Hotel - we'll be back for sure.

A truely neat botique hotel experience on the Columbia river complete with shipping scghedules and binoculars to keep up with the active river traffic. With attractive room design, work out amenities and great service our stay was both restful and entertaining. The free bicycles and vintage car concierge service is a great toucvh. We will go again and stay longer.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and enjoyed, almost every minute. The rooms are huge, staff is the friendliest, complimentary wine and cheese hour in the afternoon, cookies at night and a huge breakfast selection, including waffles, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, juices and yogurt. We got to ride in the classic antique cars to our dinner location. I just wish we could have had the time to ride the vintage bicycles around town. The only complaint was some super noisy people above us at mid-night.

We arrived here and were welcomed at check in by two glasses of wine and once in room a bottle of champagne next to the fireplace. I had mentioned it was our anniversary and they left us a nice card too. We loved the size of room and were blown away by the view. The breakfast was simple and included a make your own waffle machine. The coffee available all day was good. The fresh baked cookies each night was nice and made us really feel at home. After a day of exploring the local areas, it was a delight to get back to the wine, cheese, and salmon reception. The smoked salmon from a local company. It rained one night there but the way the hotel sits, you could barely tell. When we stepped out to the back balcony of our room we were protected, no rain through windows etc. When we stepped out front, it was windy and rainy. The hotel made our dinner reservations and then drove us there in the vintage car. This was great. We ended up staying one extra night instead of heading back to Portland our last night just because we loved it so much. You can really tell that all staff here is very caring and want to help make your stay the best experience and they did this for us. I was so excited to stay here because of what I had read and was so glad that I was not disappointed. We stayed in a regular room and the price was reasonable and worth every penny. The balcony view was the best from what we could see from the other hotels, nobody else offers this. Watching the boats go by and then the big bridge right outside while sitting on the comfy window seat across from the fireplace and using the nice binoculars in the room was a daily delight. This was our first time in Astoria and we cannot wait to go back.

We loved our experience at Cannery Pier. We rode bikes, walked on the river, and ate dinner at a nearby restaurant that overlooked the gorgeous Columbia river. If you have a chance take advantage of this unique hotel and its courteous staff.
