“Real breakfast in cool place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

We love this coffee shop/restaurant. We came here when we first started visiting Astoria 5 years ago and now visit at least once a trip. Today we ate breakfast outside. Great coffee and egg plates. Always a good size and the really fresh food biscuits with the meals are flaky and yum. We like to kick back, eat the good food, drink the coffee, read the paper and wake up in Astoria. Will always come back.

“Great fresh breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We scored a table with no wait mid-morning on a Sunday. There was a street fair nearby, so lots of people were in town. Large, well-cooked meal with an old-time appeal. This was my second time there, but a first for my spouse. She was impressed. The old building had a nice look to it and offered sidewalk dining too.

“Best breakfast in town.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

As all early risers know, a good breakfast can set up your day. I have dined here right when they open (7 am) a half dozen times now, a different breakfast choice each time, and all have been prepared to perfection. Oyster hash, Eggs Benedict and delicious biscuits and gravy top the list. There is a lady chef in the morning (don't know her name) who could compete with the best of them anywhere in the country. Can't wait to try the pancakes next time.

“Great space - food was a bit of a miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

Rainy, midday, midweek - looking for a good bowl of chowder. It looked good - hearty serving, reasonably thick - but whoever was cooking this day should have been tasting, because the flavors were just...off. We could't figure it out - maybe too much vinegar or not the right spices - the chowder was just sour, couldn't finish it. My friend had a bahn mie sandwich - tasty, on really good bread, but not traditional filling...more like a tasty vegetarian sandwich with a little Asian dressing. Great location.

“Fresh healthful ingredients = great food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2014

We took respite from the stiff breezes off the Columbia River and steadily falling mist and happened upon this charming, cozy and eclectic coffeehouse/bistro last week for lunch. Since we couldn't try one of everything (but wanted to!), we opted for a cup of the clam chowder (heavenly - want this recipe!) which was served with golden chunks of toasted and buttered crusty bread, Chickpea Tabouili & Flatbread Salad and the Hot Meatloaf Sandwich. Healthy meets comfort food! Bring your appetite.
If you appreciate a place that takes the time to make everything from scratch including their own apple butter, ketchup and ice cream, you owe it to yourself to stop in for a bite! Wish we could have stayed in town longer to try more things on the menu! Look for the big red steaming coffee cup over the door!
PS. The coffee is terrific too!
