We loved staying at Mountain Trails Lodge. The cabins are comfortable, the location is ideal, and the breakfast gave us a great start each day.

Our room faced the east (the back side of the property), so we were able to enjoy a gorgeous sunrise each morning as the day began. Saw deer each morning also.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the back of the property have an unobstructed view of mountains in the distance, and the sunrise each day.

The location is close to many activities and things to see. The cabins are super with plenty of room for two. It's handy to have the microwave and small refrigerator. We took food for dinners and cooked them on the gas grill that Jenny and Scott have made available for their guests. Jenny & Scott are the best hosts! The breakfasts that they make for the guests are over the top! Great way to start the day!! They are friendly, accommodating and informational. Our Cabin faced the East to see some wonderful sunrises! I will definitely stay there again. Sunrise

Room Tip: some of the cabins have one bed others will have two beds. On of the cabins has a ramp and is handicapped accessible .

Scott, Jenny and Brian will welcome you to this cozy, historic B&B and after getting to know them, you'll know that you've found your Home Away From Home. Delicious, abundant breakfasts, intelligent conversation and dedication to your comfort are obvious in the first few minutes of your visit, and continue afterward. The cabins are spare, but have everything you need for basic comfort -- including a rock to prop your door open and get those cleansing, cool mountain breezes into your room.

These people are Real Texans, committed to do their jobs well and make your stay stellar. The greatest favor you can do yourself, if you're visiting Ft. Davis, is to stay with them. This is Texas Hospitality at its best, and you will leave knowing that you have three new family members.

Room Tip: We had Cabin 19, which looks to the south and is quite private. Texas Mountain Lodges is one mile from the center of Ft. Davis on the road going to Alpine, which is enough distance to put you out into the quiet and contemplative edge of town.

I agree with the other reviewers here- it is the breakfast that makes this place, and the owners. The biscuits are the some of the best I ever had. And the eggs were fresh, coffee superb, and they put out dairy alternatives for those of us who don't do dairy! Thank you!! The bed was comfortable and the linens were top notch. It is the perfect cabin too for a family to use as a base camp to explore the surrounding areas.

The only complaint - if in one of the smaller cabins that share a wall with another single bed cabin, you will be subject to the noises of the other party. We had one night of lots of door slamming and loud voices. Normally, I would not have minded, as we have a child who might slam a door or two as well as be the recipient of a few shouts, but it was late and we were very tired from our day. Just be aware that the smaller cabins have a shared wall with the other side and that wall is thin. All in all, the perfect base for exploring the Davis Mountains.

Cozy little b&b rooms, just what you need. Super sweet owners who make a yummy breakfast. The breakfast room is more like restaurant seating... They even made us a wonderful gluten-free meal! Great location... Get an east-facing room so you can watch the sunrise and the deer grazing just before dawn. Excellent value for the price.
