The high price of admission is understandable, considering the cost of maintaining such a beautiful acquarium. There were lots of knowledgable volunteers, young and old, to explain the exhibits, and my only criticisms were that there did not appear to be an overall theme, many "sub-themes", and that we saw people trying to sneak into the facility through an unlocked outside door. Fortunately a young female worker (volunteer?) turned them away, but the large group could have turned ugly. Why is this door unlocked? These people seemed to know exactly what they were doing, as if they knew in advance about the unlocked door.

The acquarium was very crowded with young and old.

This Aquarium is really amazing. I cannot say how happy I was with this place. I found the entire property to be very clean. I will say it can be a little confusing as to where to begin your journey though each section. We ended up going by a few sections twice just to be sure we saw all sides of each exhibit. The dolphin exhibit and "show" is well done. There are no real shows persay, but the trainers come out every hour and a half, talking to the audience about the dolphins at the aquarium and discussing different personalities of them etc. Overall its worth seeing. The variety of sharks are impressive with a large exhibit of them. All other fish are well cared for and keep your attention with a wide variety. Note this is the only dolphin exhibit in the Northeast US. So if you want to see Dolphins residing in the North East US. This is the place to go. 4 hours from New York City.

The one not so positive note is the cafe. At least the one near the dolphin exhibit (unsure if there was another somewhere else). The staff behind the counter seemed extremely miserable. The food was so so. Typical chicken tenders, fries. Pre-made salads. Burgers. Chips. Coke a Cola products. This was the only downside. Prices are OK. But not a major deal breaker. There are plenty of other places around the aquarium to eat. The harbor area of Baltimore is alive and well. Many nice area's to walk around and eat right nearby.

Just don't let the GPS take you the uhh "backway" to I-95 from the aquarium. Some not so great parts well far away from the Aquarium enroute to the highway. But thats just a side note.

This is a great place to go for the weekend. You can tour the aquarium in a day, seeing all kinds of aquatic life, help feed the animals, watch a 4D movie, and have fun cruising the items in the gift shop. There are a few reasons I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. 1 would be the price. I went with my husband and that was expensive enough, so I can't imagine what a family spends there in 1 day. The other reason was the lame "dolphin exercise" or whatever they called it that we saw. I think we waited longer in the bleachers for the event to start than it actually took. It was interesting, but way to short and anti-climactic. The other good thing about the Baltimore Aquarium is you are so close to Inner Harbor, with all the shops and restaurants. Note to families with small children - NO strollers allowed inside, however they do have front packs to carry loan you (for free) for you to tote your baby in.

This place can take all day and you still won't see it all. We enjoyed the shows and picked up a great t-shirt of penguins mimicking a Beatles album.
