FYI: Port Discovery was a sleepover site for the JrNYLC during July 4. However they didn't care for the students exceedingly well (not everyone heard directions, etc.) and were a little bossy at times. In addition, there were medical and luggage problems. The food was also moderate and was frozen (frozen lemonade, apple juice, and OJ). It wasn't really that great, and was a little creepy since parts of Port Discovery actually looked like a warehouse loading area!

Port discovery actually has three floors. It is actually very amazing (HUGE maze), such as a "gas fill up station/ air station" for their fake car, make your own silly putty, make your own poems, etc. on the first floor. The second floor has balconies, a hold onto a rope and "fly" place, etc. The third floor has the first Gen iMacs, dancing wildflowers, and moving birds, peacocks, etc.

It is a okay museum...but it really isn't for people 15 or older. They may be bored.

My daughter and I just spent a wonderful, full day with friends at Port Discovery, the Baltimore Children's Museum. The museum does an outstanding job serving kids age 8 and up; unlike most children's museums, there are many activities to challenge and engage elementary-school children. An indoor soccer field, an enormous and just-hard-enough climbing apparatus, a "mystery house" and a chance to play archaeologist in an Egyptian tomb captured the imagination and kept the attention of my second-grader.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and seemed genuinely concerned about the customer experience and child safety. Port Discovery was definitely cleaner than most children's museums, and most of the exhibits were functioniong -- not an easy feat on a busy summer day.

My one caution to other visitors: for your own safety, do NOT patronize the McDonald's that is right next door to the museum. My friend and I and our kids were approached and then verbally assaulted by an aggressive panhandler during our late afternoon stop for ice cream. The manager eventually recognized and evicted him, but it was not a pleasant way to end our day. If you are looking for lunch or a snack, I highly recommend instead walking just a few blocks down to the pavilions at Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

We just went there today for my daughters 8th birthday. It was a horrible visit. The crowds were huge and the rooms were so jammed packed that we didn't get a chance to do much. The rooms were very sparse and there wasn't much to do. We waited to buy tickets for over an hour. We were done looking around in less than an hour and a half. My daughter cried all the way home.

Depending on your expectations, this place is a waste. Promoted as being a team effort with Disney, their Imagineers gave 1% into this endeavor. The biggest attraction to kids is the central, 3-story climbing area. But, it is the quickest way to lose your kid, too. They can be lost in the crowd in a blink. And, they exit and enter from all three floors, so have a rendezvous plan.

As for value, there is not much else to see and do worth mentioning. The lowest level offers an arts and crafts room which was nothing special. The second floor had a room you walk through as kids try to solve a mystery, but it was lame. The top floor had some educational computer games, but is this really what you expect as a tourist? And, from Disney?

Save your time and money for other Baltimore attractions.

Went to Port Discovery on Memorial day weekend. My daughter had a really nice time playing in the giant tree house. My wife even loved the mummy tomb. There is so much to do, we didn't get a chance to go into every room. But I will definately take her back. Educational and fun at the same time. And parking is only $5 dollars when you get a validated ticket from the gift shop.
