My wife and I were wandering the IH and figured what the heck lets see..... bottom line is if you have a ten year old gofor it... otherwise keep you $ in your pocket. The planetarium was the highlight of the visit....

You will enjoy this museum. Something for every age! I bring my 3&7 year here all the time. Dinosaurs, kid room, electricity, etc.

The good...

1) Very family oriented with hands-on exhibits tailored for children
2) Courteous, interactive staff members
3) Interesting live presentations (we stayed for a presentation on liquid nitrogen during our visit)
4) Small children are admitted for free

The bad...

1) The admission price is a little hefty ($18.50 per adult), even though small children are free
2) Some of the interactive exhibits were damaged or broken
3) The museum devotes a LOT of floor space to the blue crab, which is interesting enough, but not THAT interesting

All in all, this wasn't a bad place to spend a Saturday afternoon with your family. I have been to some fantastic interactive science museums though (The Discovery Place in Charlotte, COSI in Columbus, Disney's Epcot Center, St. Paul's Science Museum of Minnesota), all of which I think would deserve the 4 and 5 ratings.

My daughter (age 8) loved this place! My son on the other hand (age 12) was pretty bored. Exhibits seem to be focused for younger children.

Great, hand on experiences for kids of all ages to learn and have fun. Right on the harbor, easy walk to other attractions. My kids have been many times and always enjoy it. Great planetarium also.
