“Just average”
Reviewed 2 July 2014 via mobile

I stayed here with my wife to attend a training conference and although our experience wasn't horrible or anything, I must say I expected a bit more from a Hilton hotel. Checkin was fast no problems there and customer service was great. We booked the Executive King Bed Room with Ballpark view. Room was average size, clean and still looked fairly new. We had a nice view of Camden Yards from the 19th floor. The digital channels on TV kept losing signal so that was annoying. Bed was very comfortable. We had access to the Executive lounge which provided continental breakfast until 11am and snacks througout the day afterwards. The lounge would be our only complaint...it just didn't compare to other hotel lounge access areas we've been accustomed to in the past (e.g. Marriott). Continental breakfast could be improved and they could offer some hot snacks during other times, not just cheese and crackers for the amount you spend on the room. I also heard individuals complain about the slow Internet access. Overall, we had a good stay but we don't think it was worth the high nightly rate.

The staff are friendly and helpfull and the location is convenient for out of towners without your own transport.

However the towels are long overdue for replacement, the bed isn't that comfortable, and the room service food could be better.

Room Tip: The higher floors may perhaps be better as they cost more.

Only place to stay if you're in town for Orioles games. Hotel is right across the street, and since that street is closed for ballgames, it is like it is on the stadium property. Bonus is the patio overlooking the stadium from the fourth floor. You actually could watch the game from there.

Hotel is a luxury property that is economically priced, but that is done by charging for every extra -- Internet, breakfast, parking, upgraded room. There is no need to upgrade to a higher floor or to a home-plate view room. Just get one on the fourth floor if you want to check out the ballpark. Room numbers 438-467 are in the hallway toward the stadium, with 467 being at the end of the hall just off the patio.

Room Tip: Rooms 432-467 are in the hallway leading to the patio overlook Camden Yards with 467 being the bette...

*Negatives first: The inner curtain along the window was removed. You had to call the front desk to REQUEST an inner curtain. What? I've never experienced that myself. Also, there was a large Easter convention happening during our stay. Very crowded. I could hear many, many footsteps in the hallways, but guests were generally quiet (i.e., no yelling, crying kids, etc.). The crowds always created a MAJOR elevator fiasco upon checking out. We weren't near the top floor, and, as a result, once the elevators made it down to our floor, they were full. ALL OF THEM. We ended up dragging our stuff down the stairwell along with several other families from various floors. I'm not a civil engineer, but Hilton needs to reconsider this design. I can only imagine guests in a full hotel having to take the stairwell down should the elevators be out of service. What a nightmare scenario. This hotel should have another bank of elevators. Easier said than done, but at full capacity, the in-place elevators are simply not enough.

**Positives: Stayed here for two nights. Outstanding location! Close to the aquarium, restaurants, and other inner harbor delights. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the room we stayed in, but didn't have any of the bad experiences I've read elsewhere. The staff was friendly during check-in, though a young man attempted to cut us in line during the process. The front desk clerk was not having any of it. She politely told him to get lost. So, thank you Hilton staff for being astute.

The room we had was average. I'm a long-time Hilton customer and wasn't impressed with the room. It was just meh. The carpet looked like it hadn't been replaced in while; it looked old and made the room smell less than fresh. Bathroom was clean, large HDTV worked, and so did the A/C. I didn't really observe any other discrepancies.

I'd say the most negative experience was the curtain issue. Man was that confusing. I had to call the front desk to make sure the previous guests didn't remove them maliciously or not. I didn't want to be charged some kind of maintenance/damage assessment fee.

I think the lobby was beautiful. Large and very modern. But it seems the rooms didn't quite match. The building appears to be older than one would think upon arrival. Perhaps Hilton needs to consider a remodeling project beyond paint and furniture.

Room Tip: Get the top floor if you can.

check-in/check-out took too long time, and there were enough front desk position, but not so many workers to take of the business. too cheap to hire more workers? hair blower handle is so sticky, and gross! the water in electronic iron has gone bad, so, the ironing process brought some very bad smell, again, gross! noise is intolerably loud! without earplug, could not sleep! Wi-Fi was not stable and very slow !

The Hilton in Baltimore is ideally sited to visit the Inner Harbor, Camden Yards, Football stadium, Hippodrome, convention center. Excellent location, location, location (worth 2 star). Check in/out was efficient and friendly. 2-night reservation came with free self parking (worth a star). They lost a star because of 2 things: 1) the bathroom was large (lots of wasted space) but the counter surrounding the sink was minimal. 2) the closet was strange: it was about 8 feet high but split horizontally into 2 sections; the bottom section was about 3 feet high and held the hangar bar and the hangars and the safe; one could hang only short items. The upper section of about 5 feet held an extra blanket. Immediately upon opening the closet door, an ironing board greeted you. It had to be moved to access the closet. The bed was comfortable.

Stayed here for the first time because my wife and I were attending an off-site weekend conference. Overall, I would rate the stay as average – some good and some bad. The room was a bit on the small side but in good condition overall. The mattress was extremely soft. No problems with Wi-Fi. The bathroom was very small with some paint peeling on the ceiling. The sink was very slow draining. We had access to breakfast in the concierge lounge and the selections were limited compared to lounges in other Hilton properties. The gentleman in charge both mornings was sullen and far from welcoming. We had dinner the first night in The Tavern and both food and service were exceptional. Very pleasant surprise for a hotel restaurant. My major complaint was with the check-in and check-out process. Checking in, a very pleasant British clerk asked if we were returning guests, I indicated that this was our first time at the hotel. She proceeded to say, “Welcome back!”. I then asked her how far the Hippodrome Theater was from the hotel and she indicated it was about a ten minute cab ride. That might be true but it also turned out to be about a 5 minute walk (questions about Baltimore – ask a bellman – they are a wealth of good information). She then proceed to check us into a room by the elevator when my profile indicates far from the elevator. To me that is lacking in customer service. On check-out, there were three or four of us standing in line for the two clerks at the desk. Both were clearly dealing with issues by why not ask for assistance from someone in the back office? I finally when to the desk and was part way through the check-out process, when the clerk answered the phone. Rather than asking the caller to please hold for a moment, she proceeded to take the call. That’s just really rude customer service. There are lots of hotels in the Inner Harbor section of Baltimore. Other than The Tavern, there was nothing that made the Hilton stand-out.
