“Lived there!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2014

Mt. Vernon is both scruffy and elegant, the best of historic Baltimore and maybe a feeling that it could be a better representative of the city. I love it regardless. Lived there in the early '90s, walked to work downtown, loved the park, the bars, the restaurants.

“Still a hit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

I love this area of town--so much diversity! Wander through the shops, have lunch or dinner, have a glass of wine--it can be whatever you make it. The best part is there are few if any 'chain' restaurants or shops!

“Architecture is fantastic”

It's a great neighborhood to walk around and try to peak in windows. It looks like Europe. The park in the center is gorgeous and maintained by volunteer residents. Try to go into The Engineers Club on the park and just look.

“Favorite part of Baltimore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

Yes the Inner Harbor is Great but a place where you meet other tourists not the locals. I wanted to get off the beaten track and took a walk along St Charles St. I was not disappointed. There is a timeless feel about the Mt Vernon area. I walked from the inner harbor to my hotel several times. The Book Fair is special. I wa sin town on business and was not able to spend as much time as I wanted browsing through the book stacks. I was blessed with great weather. I loved seeing the Washington Memorial (yes Baltimore has one too) The book fair is in the square surrounding it. If you get tired of walking you can jump on the CharmCity Circulator Purple route goes through here. It was a wonderful experience walking through this area.
