Maryland Women's Heritage Center
Reviewed 24 February 2014

Just a few blocks from the Inner Harbor in Baltimore is an urban Secret Garden. Girls and boys can explore the contributions of historic women - like suffragettes, alongside a wonderful exhibit about NASA women. The Heritage Center contains multi-media displays on women in the Maryland Women's Hall of Fame, as well as "ordinary" women - Unsung Heroines - who are making people's lives better today. Adults can also enjoy and learn from the exhibits, some of which are interactive.

Major exhibits on STEM (science & tech) careers. Bring your daughters and nieces, and bring your sons and nephews! All kids should learn about contributions to society by our female ancestors and by those who are still making a difference. Accessible via mass transit - 2 blocks off Charles St. And Lexington Market is nearby. Check out their website: http://www.mdwomensheritagecenter.org/ Do not be deceived by the free admission; this is a great opportunity for friends and family in a lovely space. I have visited several times and always find something new and interesting.

I just happened to find out about this place. And, I am so glad I did. I took a group of young girls and got a fabulous tour and presentation from Annamaria Joyner (Docent). For a small place, there was definitely enough to keep you busy for sometime. Reading about famous, important, and /or unsung women of a types/ backgrounds. They have a children section where they can actively participate in the museums current exhibit. I only wish it was bigger. I wanted more and planned to go back when the next exhibit arrives. It is definitely a place that should not be passed up!
