“So much better than Miss Shirley's!”
Reviewed 16 August 2013

Flexible menu - you can get burgers or Mexican food and both are excellent. Also, the atmospheren is flexible - either the original Alonzo Bar area or Loco Hombre - since these are one restaurant now.
They also serve food at late hours and the service is very good.

“Don't go”
Reviewed 20 July 2013

This place is dirty, flies, sticky table top, overcooked unseasoned tuna in a gummy wrap with undercooked white rice. Shrimp fajitas looked like frozen small shrimp. Sever sticks fingers in glasses when removing from table. Was not busy on a Friday at 7 pm, and still had to wait for water refills.

“Burgers are ok, but...”
Reviewed 8 July 2013

We went to Alonso's on a Sunday evening, my partner and his son wanted burgers and I, after looking at their menu online, decided I would try an Italian dish. We were seated at a booth with a table top soo sticky I had to keep peeling the drinks menu off of it. We ordered our food, 2 burgeres and I ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese. The food arrived promptly, however, the bolognese sauce was the furthest thing from italian I have ever tasted - it was chili! Mildly hot chili over pasta. I sent it back and ordered the pull pork sandwhich instead, which was passable but not great. I was told the sauce on the pasta was "their meat sauce". I guess "their meat sauce" does double duty for both Alosn's and Loco Hombre.

“Absolutely Dreadful Mexican Food”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

By far the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten anywhere in the United States. There is nothing fresh here. The rice and beans were dried out clumps that surely were sitting around for hours, if not days. The meat in the tacos had no flavor at all. The guacamole is an embarrassment - tasteless goo squeezed out of a tube. Maybe their other menu items are much better, but if you don't want to put any effort into the Mexican entrees, then take them off the menu. There is nothing fresh, nothing creative and nothing tasty going on here, not to mention anything Mexican. Go here if you like the bar or want to support the neighborhood, but try something other than the Mexican food.
