“$15 crab cake”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2013

One jumbo lump crab cake - no sides - actually cost $16.99 including tip.

There were signs and magazine articles (albeit a bit dated) all over the walls attesting to the fact these are Baltimore's best crab cakes. We decided to try one, since we were there. It was only 10:30 a.m. and the staff were busy making the crab cakes. They had stacks of three different types. I ordered one. They did not ask which one I wanted. They just grabbed one and MICROWAVED it. As they were heating it, I asked about the different types of crab cakes. They explained one was claw (cheapest), one was backfin (mid-price) and one was was lump (most expensive). I asked which one I was getting. The response was - lump - the best. As I said, it was $14.99 plus tip, but did include a piece a limp lettuce. one razor thin slice of tomato and 4 saltines.

The crab cake was virtualy all sweet, delicious crab meat with few fillers. It was quite tasty, but not worth the price. There is no place to sit to eat your food. You stand at high tables. I imagine it gets quite crowded later on, but we were the only one there at the time.

Faidley's has been located in downtown Baltimore inside the Lexington Market since 1886. This market, unfortunately, has seen better days.

“It's the case of atmosphere enhanced food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2013 via mobile

Good crab cakes (in a busy market) fast food style at a tourist trap price. It's the hub bub of the market, having to wait in a perpetual long line, and eating standing up around shared tables that contribute a lot to the perceived goodness of the food.
Just go there with a proper expectation and havd fun.

“By far, the best crab cakes in the universe!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2013 via mobile

Went out of our way on a road trip to seek out and indulge in what have to be the most delicious crab cakes in the universe.
The public market atmosphere added to the authenticity. Faidley's is an old school fish monger--- fresh as the moment it was caught and worth every penny. Also, don't miss the Raw Bar.

“Best crab cakes ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

We made a point to visit Faidleys after we saw it on a food oriented show. The lump crab meat in the crab cakes is delicious and there is very little filler. They were so good we went back for seconds. They were also reasonably priced. Three family generation are working at the restaurant and we met them all. The matriarch of the family still makes the crab cakes by hand. When I told my father in law about them he ordered some and had them delivered across the country and was not disappointed. The only issue i had was they closed at 6 pm which is early for dinner but we got there early.
