We bought a stay & cruise package through an online third party vendor months ago for our family unit, as well as my parents. I called a few days before our Thursday night stay (sailing on Friday out of the Port of Baltimore) to pay for my parents room. I was emailed the forms to fill out and fax back in. Mike was very helpful on the phone with this. My parents were able to arrive before us and check in without having to pay a balance. They had a nice king room on the 4th floor over towards the casino construction but they didn't have any issues with noise.
We arrived after 4pm and a room was not ready for us. After being stuck in horrible traffic on I-95 North (construction then an accident shutting down 3 lanes!) we just wanted to get in a room. A gentleman in the back office quickly went upstairs and found one that was just cleaned. We were facing Russell Street overlooking the front check in parking. Some street noise, the most being the the large metal plate that is currently over most of the intersection. When vehicles drive quickly over it you hear loud metal banging noise. When there is lots of traffic congestion you don't hear it. I am sure once construction is done in this area that noise will be gone.
We had two queen beds in our room. It was very clean and well appointed. When talking with my parents we noticed they had shower gel in their complimentary toiletries and we didn't. On our way to the elevator I saw the gentleman that found a room for us and thanked him for it. Then I jokingly asked why they got shower gel and we didn't. He said that king rooms get shower gel. Sort of odd. He said he would get some for us. 10 minutes later as we were getting on the shuttle for dinner (shuttles run on the hour and you have to call/visit the front desk to get on the shuttle list. You just have to give your name and room number) we ran into him and he had three little bottles for us. So nice!
The shuttle took us to the Inner Harbor for dinner. Shuttle driver was very nice, gave us a card and told us to call when we wanted to come back. Turns out two hours later as we were about to call from the meeting place to arrange for pick up he pulled up to drop others off so we hopped right in!
Breakfast was very good with lots of variety for a continental breakfast. Our daughter loved the pancake making machine. Not your usual belgian waffle machine, but an individual pancake machine. Plenty of seating and area was clean.
My parents were able to get us all on the first shuttle out for the cruise ship at 10am. We were told to be downstairs in the lobby by 9:45. Mike was our driver and was very professional. When it got to be 10:15 and we hadn't left we found it a couple who was scheduled to be on our shuttle had never come downstairs. Two other ladies got on our shuttle instead of their 10:30am shuttle. It was a bit cramped with all of the luggage but doable. We were dropped off about 50 feet from the port door and our luggage was put on a large transport cart right next to the shuttle van. Super convenient. We were given a card with the hotel info to call when we wanted to be picked up a week later.
***** Note: you can not use your phone while going through customs at the port. I called as we were walking down the ramp before customs and was told to call when we were cleared from customs. 20 minutes later we were cleared and gathering our luggage and I called again. Mike answered the phone and I told him we were ready for pickup. A customs official told me I had to get off the phone. I repeated that to Mike and hung up. So you aren't allowed to use the phone until after you have gathered your luggage and walked out of the port building.***** I called a third time to the hotel and the young lady said it would be 20 minutes until pick up (it was 8:35am on a Friday morning, rush hour). Well Mike picked us up 5 minutes later. He had left as soon as I hung up on him!!! From the minute we left the ship to the minute we got in our cars (which were in the covered parking area for a week and were fine, a little construction dust) was less than an hour at rush hour on a Friday morning including a backed up customs queue. Awesome!
Excellent customer service before, during and after our one night stay. Once the construction of the casino next door is done the traffic and noise will die down. Per Maryland law casinos can not have hotel rooms in them. This hotel may get lots of business from next door. I hope their rates do not go up too much and they keep the stay and sail packages available. We will definitely stay here again if cruising out of Baltimore of if coming for a visit to Baltimore.
