“Just short of being a premier resort.”

We have been staying at Nemacolin for years and are always impressed with the setting and facilities. Unfortunately, however, sometime during our stay we always jolted back into reality and realize we are not staying at a five star resort in some exotic locale, but are in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Nemacolin is tucked away in the beautiful Laurel Highlands. The hotel and spa facilities are beautiful and the guestrooms spacious, elaborate and clean. This past trip our plan of relaxing by the pool was ruined by the booming sounds of the D.J. and some "girls gone wild" performing obscene dance moves in their bikinis around the pool.
If you have the opportunity and can afford the upgrade, choose to stay at Fallingrock and use their more serene swimming pool.

Room Tip: The Chateau is centrally located to the main building, dining, shops, spa and pool. If you are look...

This was a wonderful quick retreat for my Aunt and I. We had been given a free two day stay with a free massage for each of us. I wish we could've stayed well past the two days. The spa was a welcome respite for both of us and not to be missed. We stayed in the Chateau building.

Beautiful resort; staff is so helpful & friendly; the animals are a neat feature; we could have enjoyed more outside, but it rained; can't wait to return & stay longer; I highly recommend this vacation spot

Room Tip: We stayed in the Links townhouses. Right on the golf course & next to the animals

We stayed at the Links townhomes for four days with our children--who are three older teenagers. When we first pulled up to the townhomes I thought they looked a bit tired and were clearly not one of the renovated parts of the resort. It actually ended up being fine b/c the inside, was clean and looked nicer than the outside. We called for a roll-away bed which was delivered b/c the second bedroom looked more like a double than a queen bed.

Here is what we liked:

-plenty of space in the townhome-2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths.
-full kitchen equipped with dishes and everything you could need from can opener to bottle opener
-beautiful view from semi-private deck
-free wifi
-stacked washer dryer in the townhome and detergent and fabric softener was provided
-rollaway bed brought upon request
-Free shuttle right outside our door to every and any location on the resort from spa to fitness center or any activity or restaurant
-Ample towels, nice quality thickness too
-Activities were fun-- we did zip line, Rubicon Jeep off roading (anyone with driver's license can drive, even teens!) Clay shooting, paint ball too.
- wonderful spa experience (You can use the spa amenities the entire day of your visit, so if you are going to have multiple services you may want to spread them out over the days you are there.)
-Fitness Center was adequate
-service was impeccable (ex: we had lunch at Autumn and then the following day we had dinner at Aqueous and they handed me a vegetarian menu. I had no idea how they knew and when I asked our stellar waitress Maranda she knew. It turns out that when our waitress the day before learned I was a vegetarian she added it to the "notes" on our account.
-PJ's ice cream had very good ice cream and we enjoyed playing ping-pong as well as arcade games
-the artwork, statuary and landscaping was beautiful and I took so many photos. If you are a picture-taker you are going to LOVE the grounds. So many beautiful things to see...
-The wild animals by the links townhomes are incredible-- although you do sort of feel bad for them that they don't have acres and acres to roam and run. I do think they are well cared for though.

What I didn't dig so much: I HOPE MANAGEMENT READS the first one BELOW...

- The water in our links townhome was DANGEROUSLY scalding hot. Our 19 year old daughter, unfamiliar with the shower handle had a painful blast when turning the shower knob and I had burning water on my hands at the sink when washing my face. When I opened my eyes the water was actually steaming from the faucet. If a child was in the bathtub and changed the knob it could be a terrible outcome. PLEASE consider changing the hot water heater setting before someone is seriously injured.
-The bedspread in the master suite was stained--that is just gross b/c you know people wonder what the heck that stain is on the bed spread...
-appliances could use an update, although they worked just fine-- they looked old.
-1 ply toilet paper I know this may seem silly, but a four star resort needs 2 ply tp. You are not saving any money b/c people use twice as much. Spring for 2 ply :+)

Also the casino was fun for a one-time thing----We went one evening after dinner and if you are a guest of the hotel you do not have to pay the $10 admission. They also give you $10 to play from Nemacolin and another $10 from the casino--plus they gave another $5 if you give them your email address. So, my husband and I each got $25 loaded on the card to play with-- and none of it was ours. Turns out gambling with someone else's money is more fun than gambling with your own. When we lost it all we left b/c we are not big gamblers. We were told though, that if we lost $100 that evening they would load $50 back onto our card that night and another $50 on the card in seven days. It was fun though-- and with slots as small as 1 cent you could be there a looooooong time. The only negative is that it was SO smoky in the casino and our eyes were burning. Having a non-smoking section in there was just pointless and silly... sort of like having a peeing section in a pool...

Speaking of pools...The pools were wonderful and the kids had a great time even though it was a little cold when we were there. The pool water was heated and comfortable. I can imagine that this resort would be lovely in the winter too-- with skiing and tubing I'll bet it is a winter wonderland. We would return again.

Room Tip: Links Townhomes are away from the main Chateau but only about a mile away on the resort. You are sti...

It is often difficult to find a resort that will accomodate all of the needs and requests of a family that likes to combine relaxation, great food and wonderful activities all in a beautiful expansive one stop shop location. You want the flexibility to explore the options on your own but it is helpful to have staff that will offer suggestions and create a truly memorable experience for your family. Well, Nemacolin provides all of these options. This was our second visit and their consistency in providing great service is truly unmatched by other resorts we have visited. At our earliest opportunity we will be making another visit. Thank you to all of the Nemacolin staff!

We unexpectedly booked ourselves into Nemacolin resort and were very glad we did. The setting, staff and facilities were very impressive. The adventure center is not to missed. The pool was great and one of kids felt short changed that she had to leave to get dinner.Elements, namely art work, are not up to standard. That can be fixed. Also the buildings will appreciate with time. We really had a nice time. No regrets or complaints.

Superb property for any type of function or vacation.
I planned and attended a 2 day corporate meeting/team building at Nemacolin July 2014. The event planners are very professional and very willing to accomodate any request you may have. Food was excellent and the attention by the staff was perfect - very attentive without being intrusive. The chef who conducted our private dinner was the perfect balance of skill and professionalism but with an easygoing enjoyable personality that was warm and welcoming. All of the staff from the concierge to the valet, bell man and banquet captains, all demonstrated a commitment to make sure each guest was happy.

The property itself is smack-down, straight-up, blow your mind, over the top luxury. It is definitely something to be experienced. There is plenty to do on property but it is not so chaotic that it is distracting. The adventure center is well run and safe with enough challenge to satisfy everyone.

The rooms at the Chateau were large, not enormous, which I feel is part of the charm of feeling European. Well done, tasteful, yet luxurious all at once. Very comfortable and despite being sold out, I still felt that it was quiet and peaceful.

Cost - this place is expensive, no question. Know that going in. But if your budget allows you to spend money on high end luxury, this is the place to be. You are treated as royalty.

Room Tip: Always a high floor.
