This site has great potential as a resort destination, but would require important updates in all areas. Rooms are small, with dated decor, thin linens, and mattresses past their prime. The bathroom had aging plumbing fixtures and is far too small by modern standards. The window a/c unit was noisy and cycled on and off with loud groans through the night. Sleep was almost impossible. The restaurant is weak and to be avoided. Food is overcooked, overpriced, over-portioned (gigantic portions), and over-hyped. Table service is nonchalant, admittedly friendly but mostly in the form of benign neglect, by servers that appeared uninterested and bored. The location at the summit facing west is wonderfully situated, but the overall experience is a reminder that much has improved in the world of travel since 1950.
