“Busy and the first”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

This square is an early square for Savannah and is much busier than the others as it is closer to the City Hall and the river front. There were musicians and artists there on our visit as a constant milling people walking through. A good place to sit ans watch the people. In the center is a monument to Nathan Green. Christ Church is on the side of the square. Benches for a needed rest. Parking can be an issue in this area.

“Oldest, largest square in Savannah”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

All of the many squares in Savannah are unique. Johnson Square is the oldest and largest square. In the center is a monument to Nathanael Greene. Beautiful Christ Church is on one side of the square. A white marble bench in memory of the Savannah songwriter Johnny Mercer can be found in one corner. A beautiful place to sit and enjoy the gorgeous trees and surroundings.

“Johnson Square”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

Busy in a good way. Watch for the horse and carriages in the street as you walk. Nice for taking photos. The historic Christ Church and the Bank of America building are there.

“Great square”
Reviewed 4 October 2012

This is one of the busier squares in town. This is because of its location. Its still a great place to sit down and rest for a few while you are touring Savannah.
