“Great Place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

we stayed two nights....Aug 25th and 26th, 2014.
We were delighted to stay and enjoy Savannah and our B/B.
Good location just down the street from Mrs. Wilks a must to eat.
short walk to town and lots of parks along the way.
Ate at lady and Son's as well as the Pink House.
Eliza Thompson House is welcoming and since it is a B/B
we met some really nice people.
The staff was welcoming as well as very helpful.
Great Place

This b&b is on a great street for viewing old savannah as well as close to several historic sites and beautiful parks/squares. The interior was beautiful, breakfast very good, and the nightly wine and desserts wonderful. Our room was not as big as the photos seemed to indicate but it was fine, the only noise we heard was the fountain running 24/7. While it wasn't a big issue the only thing was there is only street parking, when we arrived on Saturday afternoon we had to park about a block away at check-in, but the rest on the weekend we found spots very close.

Room Tip: We think the upper floors would be better than lower, particularly in the mornings as breakfast is s...

This was an ideal place for a woman traveling alone, in town for only one night. My petite room was fine for one night. Sleeping on the top floor, I felt secure. My car was parked right out front, under a street light. I could walk everywhere, for meals and for exercise, along charming old streets. The staff were all hospitable and friendly. Happy hour offered a bit of sociability. I would agree that breakfast could be improved, but for one morning, it was fine.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard will have breakfast noise. Street facing rooms are quiet but have bright...

This was my first time staying at a B&B, and loved it.
We didn't like the room opening out to the main street, so we asked to switch to another room at the loby level and it was lovely. The room had 2 queen beds and was very spacious for 3 adults. Madison was on duty every afternoon/evening we were there, and she was such a joy to be around. Breakfast in the courtyard was very nice. Wine reception at 5:30-7pm and dessert at 8-10pm(+/-) saved us $$ not having to eat out every night.

Room Tip: It's an old house so lots of narrow stairs. If you have heavy luggage, I would recommend to sta...

The building is gorgeous and has a lot of character and the location is superb--Jones is one the most beautiful streets in Savannah. Service is friendly.
However, the furniture, carpets, and décor are tired and in need of replacement. The common areas are clean but the rooms are extremely dirty. We changed rooms and we had the same experience in both: the bathrooms had been poorly cleaned and the furniture had not been dusted for ages. Rusty fixtures and worn-out shower curtains and bathtubs in both baths also added to the general feeling that the property requires an urgent refreshing.
Rooms were quiet but I wonder if this would be the same when the hotel is working is full.
The breakfast was terrible: greasy food, cheap bread, watery coffee. We had breakfast there only once and took advantage of the great coffee houses the city has.
Overall, I would recommend it for location only and I would stay in a different B&B in the same area next time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here. It was the sanity in an historical downtown that was weirdly interesting. This was our first trip to Savannah and the city, the downtown area, was mesmerizing. We enjoyed our touring in the daytime, but relished the return to our B&B every evening. We always appreciate places with a personal touch and this guesthouse did not disappoint. The little things were extremely nice: the breakfast in the interior courtyard that started us on our day, the dessert gathering in the later evening where guests could share stories, and finding our beds turned down with Andes Mints and a card giving us the next day's weather forecast. We will more than likely return someday if we travel this way again.

Room Tip: Every room is different so it really depends on the bed type(s) one prefers.

My husband and I stayed at the Eliza Thompson House for 3 nights. The hospitatlity was wonderful. It is beautiful and we loved that it served breakfast in the courtyard every morning. The house has a wonderful history associated with it. It was close to everything we we wanted to do and see.
