“If you want the full Savannah experience, a stay at the Amethyst is a MUST!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2010

If you want the full Savannah experience, a stay at the Amethyst is a MUST!
Jane and Rocky show you the true meaning of southern hospitality and create such a wonderful home-like atmosphere that is unlike any other bed & breakfast we've ever stayed.

I come from a family of excellent southern cooks so I’m accustomed to some top of the line eats- and the breakfasts & hours-devours (aka “happy hour”) that Jane & Rocky created tasted like they could've come out of my grandmothers kitchen.
Brunch at the Ritz doesn't come close.
Jane probably went back in time & taught Paula Dean everything she knows.
The food was seriously THAT good.

Add in the little details that make you feel special...
Food allergies or something you don't like? Jane’s got the solution-
Happen to be your birthday? Chocolate éclairs baked in the shape of the number 40 with a candle & singing guests at breakfast...
Mention you're a policeman by trade? Special homemade hot doughnuts to finish off your breakfast...

The house is quite pretty, the rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable- same as many other B&B’s… but when you stay at the Amethyst you get so much more than a room & a meal. You get a truly unique experience that you can't take a picture of or post on a website (though I've tried to put it into words) and when you leave, you'll likely be a few pounds heavier...but your spirit will be energized & you'll feel like you're leaving family

I just returned from a weekend at Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden to celebrate my husbands birthday. We have stayed at numerous B&B's over the years, resorts, hotels, etc... this is by far the best. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Rates were reasonable and in line with the area. The Inn is relatively quiet as it is in the Historic area but not on the Riverfront. We easily walked back and forth several times a day to the riverfront area - it is less than a mile. What makes this place the best is the owners. They do everything possible to make your stay exceptional. I had read the reviews that Jane was an excellent cook - she is an UNBELIEVABLE cook. Her breakfast and appetizers are outstanding. Not only do they provide a phenomenal breakfast, but in the afternoons she does a wine and appetizer hour. If her or Rocky see you in the house, they are always quick to offer you a beverage or a treat. Jane's homemade marshmallows are phenomenal! They even made a point of celebrating my husbands birthday and another couples anniversary at breakfast.
You will not be disappointed if you stay here. We can not wait to go back.

From the moment we entered the inn we felt at home. Rocky and Jane the owners, are very friendly but not intrusive. Breakfast was delightful, the accomodations charming. The owners were very helpful with recommendations for things to do in savannah. We were extremely happy at the inn.

Our stay at the Amethyst Inn in Savannah was really great. It was a very quaint inn with the most wonderful people. Jane and Rocky are so welcoming; they have great advice on what to do and where to eat in Savannah (although I looked forward to Jane's breakfast in the mornings more than any dinner we winded up going to while there). The room was beautiful (wonderful high ceilings and spotless), quiet and quite affordable for the charm and location (and the breakfast of course). Within walking distance to everything in the historic district. We'd highly recommend it; we will be visiting again.

We just returned from our stay at the Amethyst Inn, and it was just lovely! The house is an authentic old-fashioned Savannah house. The owners are very sweet and they're always offering you food. Extra comfortable beds and the family's cute dog named "Nick-Coal" made my stay!

I traveled to Savannah, Georgia with my mother back in April of this year. We met 15 family members - all women-cousins and aunts, We are from the Lexington area of North Carolina and the other family members are from Alabama. For the last five years
we have chosen different destinations to meet up in and enjoy a long weekend together, sort of a family reunion-minus any of the men! Our Biltmore trip was wonderful and the Destin, Florida trip was fun. But I can honestly say Savannah, Georgia and our stay with Rocky and Jayne at the Amethyst Inn at Sarah's Garden has by far been the most enjoyable and memorable trip. Five months later and I still smile every time I think of the Amethyst Inn. That's when you know a vacation was a success! I can't say enough good things about Jayne and Rocky. They are so kind and always willing to answer questions about Savannah or give assistance any way possible. Jayne is an awesome cook! Breakfast was delicious. On the Saturday evening of our stay Rocky and Jayne treated us to a shrimp boil with all the trimmings. I've even contacted Jayne for a couple of her candy recipes. Her homemade marshmallows are to die for! I could go on and on and on about those two, they're just amazing inn keepers. Definately stay at Amethyst Inn- it is very conveniently located, only about five blocks from the waterfront. I just fell in love with Savannah-so much so that I'm hoping to go back in February to celebrate my 31st anniversary. And, I'll be giving Jayne a call to book our stay with them!
