Myself and my husband stayed in this gorgeous house for 2 nights and only wished we could have stayed longer. Leslie, our hostess and owner of the Catherine Ward House Inn was fabulous. Like previous posters she was excellent for giving recommendation for restaurants, what to do etc - only when asked - she was not at all intrusive.

We stayed in Nells room which had access to a lovely courtyard where you could sit out in the evening or morning

The property is only a 20 minute stroll to River Street and you would not even notice the walk as you are walking through some beautiful squares

Breakfast was either 8.30 or 9.30 when we stayed and we chose the 8.30 option. It was served at a large dining room table with the other guests - it was great to hear other people's recommendations and suggestions

There was plenty on offer for breakfast - tea, coffee, fresh fruit juices etc. The first morning we had fresh fruit and then french toast stuffed with cream cheese and strawberries. The second morning we had quiche with fried potato and bacon

There was water and coca cola in the fridge in the room and they were simply replaced by Leslie if used - at no charge. There was full access to the kitchen if you wanted to make a cup of coffee etc

We did the Savannah trolley tour and Leslie had them come to the house to collect us for the tour. She also booked dinner for us in a lovely Italian restaurant - Il Pasticcio

Overall we had a lovely time and will stay if we ever get the opportunity to visit Savannah again. Have no hesitiation in recommending the Catherine Ward House Inn

This was a wonderful experience on every level. The house is a beautifully restored victorian on a quiet street near Forsyth park - just outside of the "official" historic district.

The owner, Leslie, was the perfect hostess from the moment we arrived - she offered quality suggestions on restaurants and sightseeing, and made us feel completely at-home, without being too nosy or pushy.

The room was beautiful - tastefully and simply decorated in a clean, contemporary style that complemented the victorian architecture. We stayed in room #2, with a large jacuzzi tub, and highly recommend bringing a little bubble bath along to enjoy it completely!

Breakfast seatings were at either 8 or 9, and the food was delicious and satisfying without filling you up so much that you couldn't go on to an active day. The other guests were generally couples and on the whole, offered pleasant and interesting conversation - from swapping travel suggestions to sharing cultural differences.

All around, a great experience!

Upon searching for a bed and breakfast to stay at in Savannah, my boyfriend and I did a google search on pet-friendly B & Bs. The Catherine Ward House was one of a few that came up. After doing a little research, it was the ONLY one that had all positive reviews on TripAdvisor. The B & B's website looked nice and the photos of the house were beautiful. We were so excited because we had been wanting to take a trip with our two very sweet, well-behaved dogs and stay at a nice, clean place.

Before leaving on our trip, we were in touch with the innkeeper, Leslie, because of inclement weather (a tropical storm was passing right over us at the time, and it was unclear what the weather would be like for our drive up, and in Savannah as well). Leslie was incredibly accomodating and filled us in on the expected weather for the weekend, asked some other guests at the inn what they thought, and even told us if we decided not to come, she would not charge us at all due to the extraordinary circumstances.

We decided to chance it and went anyway. Luckily the weather was lovely and so was the inn! Leslie even upgraded us to a bigger, nicer room free of charge, as she had someone else who was hoping to stay in the smaller room we had booked. Our room had a private gated porch with its own entrance. The room was beautiful and very clean. The rest of the house was lovely as well. Housekeeping service is great and the room has a mini-fridge that they keep stocked with complimentary water bottles and sodas.

Leslie was nice enough to recommend a great gourmet, organic restaurant that had a cool outdoor patio, where guests could bring their dogs during dinner. We had a great meal there (at Cha Bella) and were grateful she knew of a place we could take our pups. She even called ahead for us to make sure this was still their policy.

Also, Leslie makes incredible breakfasts! She is a great hostess and sets everything up so nicely and serves great food. One morning we got fresh fruit with cream cheese & strawberry stuffed croissant french toast with a side of sausage. The next morning she made a delicious spinach and mushroom quiche (which she offered me the recipe for!), fresh fruit again, and a side of bacon.

Everything was great and we will definitely return!

This was one of the best experiences I have ever had in a B&B. In fact we enjoyed ourselves so much we chose to return to Savannah and spend another night at the Catherine Ward House. The house itself is magnificent and the rooms "to die for", but what makes this place incredibly special is your Hostess Leslie and the people who work for her - to make special mention of two - Colleen and Andrea. They make you feel like you are at home. Their extensive knowledge of Savannah and their desire to make sure your trip is everything you want it to be made our whole experience in Savannah one of the best holidays we have ever taken.

Over the years, we have been to a number of B&B's and have found that they fall into one of three categories, people who have no clue about what a B&B should be, corporate B&B's where everything is just so, but there is a sterile quality rather than a homey feel and then there are places like The Catherine Ward House, where the quality of the innkeeper and accommodations makes the stay a special one.
Upon arrival and given a choice of rooms, Leslie, the owner, asked us if we needed any help with...well basically anything. Restaurant recommendations and reservations, suggestions on what tours to do and a layout of the area were all part of the assistance she provided. The room we went with (The Sea Trader) was quaintly furnished in a style that might have been found in a sea captain's home after a few trips to Asia, the breakfasts, while not gourmet, were fresh and hearty with care to check on any guests dietary needs and while the location is not ideal for easy access to historical Savannah, Forsyth Park is right around the block, and if walking is the way you like to get around, strolling through Savannah's squares to and from the B&B is a lot of fun. This is a quality B&B and well worth a stay.

This was our first trip to Savannah and our first stay in a Bed and Breakfast. The ladies at the Catherine Ward House made our week there an excellent experience. They were very helpful with information about what to do and how to get around. They had a special going on when we went and we got a free upgrade to the best room in the house. The breakfasts were AMAZING...really good and delicious. Little things like fresh flowers in the room, complimentary soda and water and the magnificence of the beautiful old house and extremely friendly and helpful hosts made it very hard to leave. Parking was never a problem even though it was in the middle of downtown near Forsyth Park. And it was great value! We were extremely satisfied, but the only thing that would have made it better is if the house were closer to the river. It wasn't a big deal at all because its really not that far of a walk (about 20 minute walk to the river), but on those evenings when we had already walked all day or the weather looked bad or we were out late and didn't want to walk such a far distance after dark in a strange city, we called a cab (the ladies at the house suggested a 24-hour cab company that I simply programmed into my cellphone and when we needed one, they were only a phone call and maybe 10 minutes away and the cab ride was only about 6 bucks before tip) Or there are pedicabs available to bring you back.

I would recommend the Catherine Ward House to anyone. EXCELLENT!

I decided to stay here for my annual trip with my mother after learning it was a Frommer's Find (I follow Frommer's somewhat religiously). From the moment we arrived (and met the delightful owner, Leslie) to the moment we checked out, we we were incredibly pleased with our stay. This was my mother's first B&B experience, and we both left certain that we would bring others to stay there as well. Leslie has managed to design the B&B distinctly, in that it isn't 'over the top' lacy and cluttered; rather, it is classically decorated, timeless, and soothing. The room we stayed in (the Cosmopolitan) was gorgeous - from the pebble flooring in the dual-shower head glass shower and the plasma tv cleverly hidden in the mirror to the inviting private balcony with bistro seating. The location is about a 20 min walk to the riverfront, just along the gorgeous Forsyth Park. It was nice to be a little removed from the more touristy areas, if for no other reason than ease of parking. The breakfasts were delicious, the staff helpful and friendly, and the rates some of the best we came across before booking the room. You won't be disappointed if you stay here!
