“A Wonderful Escape”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2009

The Catherine Ward House Inn offered us a peaceful place to rest in downtown Savannah. Run by Leslie Larson, the inn offers a fabulous breakfast (fresh fruit, homemade hash browns, eggs, bacon) and plenty of privacy. We stayed in the SeaTrade Room, which has a huge tub and gas fireplace. There was also off street parking right by our room. I recommend it highly!

We spent two nights (with labrador retriever) in the Catherine Ward House Inn when the weather was unseasonably cold. Innkeeper Leslie upgraded our reservations free from the carriage house to the main house to make sure we'd be warm enough. It was a lovely room. Leslie is a warm and welcoming host who goes out of her way to accommodate her guests; she maintains a restaurant menu guidebook and is knowledgeable about tourist attractions and visitor information. She also makes a wonderful breakfast, which may include fresh berries, french toast, eggs, potatoes and always plenty of coffee and tea. The Inn itself is beautifully but comfortably decorated in airy neutral colors and sea grass rugs; those looking for a fussy Victorian look will not find it chez Leslie. It is situated near a large park, which is perfect for guests traveling with dogs, and most of the shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The funny thing about the Inn is that it seems to attract nice people, maybe just by word of mouth; we enjoyed all the other guests we met at Leslie's big table. We had a wonderful stay and hope to visit again in warm weather to enjoy the brick patio garden. Special note: if you visit Savannah, don't miss the Mighty 8th AF Museum, which is dedicated to the 8th Air Force -- formed in Savannah at an armory very near the Inn -- the US Army AF unit which bombed occupied Germany during World War II. Stupendous!

My Wife and I stayed at the Catherine Ward House for our honeymoon in late December and I must say it was an awesome experience. Leslie was extremely kind, generous, helpful and knowledgeable as was her assistant. We stayed in the Cosmopolitan room and it was very clean and spacious. During our stay (1 week) the room was always kept very clean with little or no signs of the cleaning lady being there. The breakfasts were amazing and portions were large. I think the location of the CWH on the outskirts of the historic district is excellent because the only real way to experience the true beauty of Savannah is to walk which you will do plenty of also the neighborhood is really quiet and clean. I highly recommend the CWH for people of all ages. I can’t say enough good things about the Catherine Ward House and the staff!

We spent two relaxing nights at the Catherine Ward House. Shortly before our arrival, the staff contacted us via cell phone to advise that our room had been up-graded to a room with a jacuzzi! That was great after traveling from New York by car. We were welcomed by the Inn Keeper, Lesly, who graciously made sure we would be able to find our way around Savannah, gave helpful suggestions and seemed on hand for whatever we needed (such as wine glasses in
our room.) Our room was meticulously clean and adorned with fresh flowers. The Innkeeper did everything possible to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. My only regret was not being able to stay at the Catherine Ward House a longer period of time.

The Inn was lovely and our host was great. We had our small dog along for the visit and he was treated wonderfully and very welcome. The breakfast was deliciousl, and the Inn was comfortable and a great part of our very nice stay in Savannah for News Year Eve.

My husband and I spent two nights at the CWH in Savannah, GA. Upon our arrival, Leslie greeted us warmly and gave us a free upgrade. The room was gorgeous, clean, and very comfortable. Leslie made reservations for us on the Old Town Trolley and offered to make reservations for other tours and at restaurants. The full breakfasts were delicious and beautifully served. The location is on a secluded, quiet street near Forsythe Park and allowed us to stroll through many of Savannah's unique squares on our way to the river. We definitely want to return to the Catherine Ward House Inn -- and Leslie!

This is a wonderful B&B in the Victorian section of Savannah. Rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful with suggestions and advice. My wife and I took several self-guided tours, in addition to the tour services. If you enjoy walking, this is the perfect sized town and the Cathyrn Ward house is in a great location.
