“Absolutely a fun time even with our ever complaining teens”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

This place is awesome. None of us is into historical things and re-enactments are generally pretty hokey, but this was good. The guys who did the demonstrations of the musket and canon firings were extremely pleasant and informative. They were great with people and getting all of the visitors involved. Wandering around the fort and seeing the various rooms was pretty cool. Even our teenage kids who whine and complain about everything and didn't ant to go to the fort loved it and insisted I give this review 5 out of 5. Very much worth the time and admission.

No one likes to hear teenagers whine and complain so we're glad we were able to keep them entertained for a while. Hopefully they learned something as well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

“Boom!”
Reviewed 26 December 2013 via mobile

My wife and boys (12 and 4), enjoyed our visit. The reenactors were knowledgable and friendly. In a short period of time, we got to experience them firing a cannon and a musket. The answered everyone's questions very well and we got to handle the musket and a real cannon ball. It was a great hour long visit to this privately run site.

“Make sure you visit.”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

This is 15 minutes from the city center. We made a stop on our way out of town and it was definitely worth it. You can make it a quick trip or really take you time and enjoy the history. I would suggest this place over any bar or shop. It is cheap and something unique that most people will likely look over. Plus the money goes to preservation and at $7 dollars you can't lose.

“Excellently presented”
Reviewed 14 December 2013 via mobile

We enjoyed this fort and there was not a question Aaron or the girl at the office could not answer. The daily canon shoot was what drew us down the road, but everything was well displayed. This is not a government funded fort. Well done!

“History came Alive!”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

We have traveled around the world, and our visit still stands out as being one of the most memorable ever. Our interpreter, Aaron Bradford, drew everyone into the experience. He helped people personally connect with their history and that of the fascinating fort. Visitors took part in a cannon firing, and teens handed their cell phones to other visitors to take their pictures as they joined in. The firing demonstration was also completely engaging.

On a prior visit, from the ramparts, we watched a dolphin splash and play with a large fish for 20 minutes. This time, a huge cargo ship came so close that it almost felt like we could reach out and touch it. Small children loved both.

Well-done displays in several cavernous rooms helped tell the story of the history that happened there.

History was made much more fascinating by its interpretation at Ft. Jackson. Thank you, and we look forward to our next visit!

Highly recommended for all ages.
