Very historic! We enjoyed this much more than Fort Pulaski. The reinactor was very knowledgable. We also enjoyed the added bonus of the huge container ships coming through.

“A great historic monument”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

Excellent self guided tour of an amazing and historic place. Re-en-actors on scene were very knowledgeable. They happy to answer any and all questions. Re-enactments covered the entire time the fort was in use. An excellent place to take the family, including the family dog.

“Informative and fun”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

Anyone interested in Civil War history will find this site interesting. The fort still stands, providing a good peak into the life of a Confederate soldier at that time. Not just fun for kids. My hubby got to be part of the team reenacting the cannon drills and he was tickled pink. Informative tour with cannon firing at the end.

“Interesting, well-run”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

We were very impressed with the fort and the work that has gone into preserving it, especially since they survive only on donations. The Confederate soldier that provided demonstrations and worked with the kids in the audience was great. Very informative and obviously enjoyed what he was doing (despite the heat). He made it fun for everyone. The cannon firing was the highlight - be sure to heed his advice on covering your ears!

“Comparable to Ft. Pulaski, but easier”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

We made it just in time for a live cannon demonstration. Facilities were nicely maintained. This place is a little smaller than Pulaski, but more interactive for the kids. They had giant foam blocks built up into a wall that the kids/parents could launch balls at with a sling shot. They also had wooden muskets for the little ones to carry around.

Not very far from Oat Island, which I would definitely recommend for children. We didn't have much time to spend here, but I would go back for sure!

You visited our fort on the day we celebrated the fort's 206th birthday. The blocks were on loan from the Savannah Children's Museum. Hopefully one day they can be part of our daily programing. Thank you for the nice words.
