Hampton Inn & Suites Savannah/Midtown
Ranked #30 of 115 Hotels in Savannah
Reviewed 5 December 2011

My wife and I stay at Hampton Inn a great deal, and this hotel is typical of the brand.

The hotel is a good location, but you will have to drive to see central Savannah and the historical parts, but if all you need is that overnight stop on route to Florida, or heading back up North, this is as good as any sub $100 a night place gets.

We opted for a King Room with a Whirlpool bath, and got a good deal by paying in advanced. $89 for the night, which we would have normally paid for a standard room.

The added space and the ability to soak in the bubbles is just what you need after a days drive. The large two person jacuzzi is in the main bedroom, and sits in a mirrored corner across from the bed. Extra towels are provided for the jacuzzi.

The check in staff are very friendly. Only two baggage carts are in the hotel, so if it's busy on check in/out day, you may have a long wait, to have to carry everything.

The bathroom as usual was large, clean, and well equipped, and the two person shower is excellent, although the shower head in ours was ready for changing, but this was minor.

The room was very clean with a good comfortable bed, and extra pillows and towels had been provided as requested when booking. Modern wide screen TV with the usual choices of channels.

No in room fridge, and unfortunately no in room safe, so take the valuable with you. Savannah has a very high crime rate.

Parking is free and plentiful, which any visitor to Savannah needs to bear in mind, as the more central hotels charge a daily fee for parking ranging from $10-$17 a night! Do remember you are a 10 minute drive to the center of town.

The one low point to this hotel is breakfast. Yes it’s free, and you wouldn’t want to pay for it! Skip the free food and head to the local drive thru for a biscuit!

The two cooked options they offered are overcooked and nasty tasting, and the toaster takes so long to brown bread, or heat up a bagel, that it’ll be lunchtime before your turn in the line comes round. Why can’t hotels simply purchase a commercial grade toaster (catering managers take note) and not a $20 Wallmart special!

The Orange juice is simply vile, and was almost enough to signal to breakfast to return, and is probably powdered concentrate. Just don’t drink it!

Room Tip: Go for the extra few bucks and get the Whirlpool King.

Having previously resided in Savannah we were familiar with the area when looking for a place to stay near the midtown medical centers. This was our first stay at this hotel and we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was much better than the average Hampton Inn. The lobby area was large and inviting. The decor included many local photos and related pieces. There was ample parking. The hotel had a number of discounts arranged with local restaurants and businesses geared toward the first time tourist. The room itself was decorated in updated themes and included a chaise lounge and desk. The bed was very comfortable. There was a micro fridge and microwave.

The location is minutes from shopping and restaurants and walking distance to Publix, Fresh Market, Bonefish Grill, Atlanta Bread Company, Coldstone Creamery, Starbucks, OfficeMax, Talbots, Coldwater Creek, etc. Both Publix and Fresh Market sell ready to eat food that can be taken back to the hotel if you're tired of the usual restaurant fare or aren't feeling great. This area of midtown Savannah has many hotels and is located one block off Abercorn St., the main artery outside the historic district. So within minutes you can find most chain restaurants, go to the malls, WalMart, Target, or Parkers or Chu's for gas and convenience items. And don't forget Two Smart Cookies and Gigi's cupcakes are just a few blocks away.

The morning breakfast hours were ample from 6-10 AM daily. Food included Belgian waffles and hot entrees in addition to the usual Hampton cold items. The ice machine was in working order, and there was an indoor pool and whirlpool. This hotel also has some meeting rooms and a lobby surrounding the meeting area.

We have used the chain before and its always reasonably good. The location here is a bit away from the historic centre but that is easily accessible. The other side of this is that you are close to shopping places and a range of branded restaurants as Abercorn is a very long road.
The hotel offers patrons a deal at the restaurant of the Hilton next door and we used this on arrival night when we were tired but I would not recommend that unless you were too exhausted to either walk across the road or drive a couple of minutes up the road. We had trouble with our room key continually and the reception staff were not helpful. Going up and down to Reception to sort out something like this is tiresome and the staff should have resolved the issue properly when first reported to them.

Room Tip: If you have problems with the room key, ask for a room close to Reception - it'll save you hours...

What an ideal location to stay for your Savannah visit. The Hampton Savannah Midtown is a new facility, clean, welcoming, cheerful staff and provided a wonderful, restful place for our visit. We were able to receive concierge assistance, board a tour trolley from this location, and easily self-navigate to points of interest from this site. If we have a return visit, this will be our choice of stay and we highly recommend this as your destination.

we were a group of 7 in Savannah, GA for a USTA Super senior tennis tournament. we chose
The Hampton Inn & suites Midtown because of it's location to the tennis site and we
were all very happy with our rooms. They were spacious and so very clean. The staff
were all helpful and could not do enough to make our stay there a memorable one.
I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to my friends. They also
had ample parking. Loved it.

I booked a business trip to Savannah, Georgia Hampton Inn. This was direct bill government. I had to change the dates the weekend before the trip. I made that clear on the phone call. They are now charging me for 2 rooms because I could not give them a cancellation number. I was traveling at the time and could not write down what the reservation operator said. Hampton Inn charged the government for a stay and they charged me. I was never told this during my stay but just recieved the bill on my credit card. Should this not be illegal?
When I questioned this charge the accountant was rude,
The hotel room itself has an overwhelming stifling smell of deoderizer. The computers in the business area did not work and the keys would stick, I will definitely advise my depoartment never to stay there again and i will cancel my HH membership. Stay with Marriott!
