Owner description: A breathtaking live oak avenue leads visitors one mile down a colonial road to a vistor center, where they can watch short historical film, tour a museum, and browse a gift shop. A walking trail leads to the 1737 tabby ruins of the oldest remaining structure in the Savannah. Trails meander past scenic marsh views to the Colonial Life Area, where costumed interpreters provide living history demonstrations in the afternoons, weather permitting. Beautiful place to visit. We enjoyed walking the paths and the views. Would definitely recommend getting the narrated tour.

My sister found this place when researching our trip to Savannah. Definitely need a car to get to it and it like stepping into the past. It's amazing that the family still lives on the original land that one of their ancestors - an original colonist with Oglethorpe- settled. Watch the movie before you go exploring, it's very informative. And that driveway with the live oaks goes on forever!

Great place for photo's and hiking. Spent the day on trails from the marsh to inland. Beautiful Oaks with spanish moss line the drive to the trail head start.

The long drive lined with live oak trees was a hint of the beauty of the site. There were several historic sites and they are adding more interpretive areas. The scenery of the marsh and woods were certainly picture worthy.

A lovely historic site that has been featured in various movies.

An easy drive south of Savannah, the long oak-lined drive in is the visual highlight, but the area's long history, scenic marsh views, and trails are enjoyable.

Admission is a bit high, but made for a quiet visit on an October weekday. Wear comfortable shoes, there are several long trails available, although the highlights are only a short walk.
