“Friendliest Downtown Hotel Walk Everywhere”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times with a large group as we pass through town on our way to and from North Carolina. We were originally lured by other hotels closer to market street and the river only to find out that this hotel is the one you want to stay every time you're in Savannah for a few reason. First, every single staff member treats you just like family, didn't meet a one who wasn't hospitable. Second, the location is great, although it may appear to be just outside the main part of the city it's exactly where you want to be for both easy access to the downtown and just far enough to be more like a quiet neighborhood. We loved deliberately walking a longer route through the neighborhoods each time we went to dinner. Pedi cabs are free, drivers work for tips if you don't want to walk. The hotel rooms were recently remodled with the new Courtyard Marriott makeover and they are truly very comfortable and quite spacious for a downtown hotel. Breakfast was excellent just like the service. I've had an opportunity to stay free elsewhere and I still returned to this great hotel.

7/12/13 was our 4th stay at this fine property. Lobby was renovated in Mar 2013, to modernize it, but more importantly, to add a much needed lobby bar. The bar maid was quite chatty, and stayed open well past the posted 10 pm closing time.
Rooms are beautifully appointed, and spacious. Location is on edge of historic district, but still only a 5 min walk to the major attractions.
Entire staff is very friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: We avoided the parking fee by using one of the 3 free spaces on the street behind the hotel (near do...

We stayed here one night on the beginning of our first long family road trip.

Something worth mentioning for anyone who is packed for a road trip. The only parking is valet, and it is $14 a night. The valet crew was truly excellent.

The hotel is clean. Service is extremely attentive and friendly - one of the highlights of the visit. The location is somewhat central, but you are looking at slightly longer walks to get around to the historic attractions.

The breakfast is good.

The reason I did not give it five stars was due to the noise: the A/C unit did not work well, and was very loud; and our room was on the MLK side, which meant there was a lot of traffic/street noise.

I would definitely return, if I could be assured of a room away from the street noise.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Very convenient to the Visitor's Center, Civic Center, and Historic District. An easy stroll to the river and all the shops/restaurants. Be prepared, though, to pay for valet parking every day. Between parking and tips, you can add a lot to the cost of your stay. Some rooms have refrigerators, some do not. But if your room does not have a fridge, they will bring you one. About what you would expect for a Marriott--well decorated and clean. Comfy beds and quiet rooms.

This Marriott is located 10 minutes walking away from Market Street with a great variety of restaurants and bars. The staff is very friendly and supportive. We took our bikes on this trip and they took care of them. All the time we had good service from everyone. I will be back to this hotel for sure. Thank you!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony or with a view to Liberty Street.

I can honestly say that this hotel is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in!

When arriving at the hotel, one of the first things that you realise is that the hotel is decorated in a beautiful way!! The hotel is currently decorated in a modern, brown and turquiose fashion and it really does hit the mark! The staff are amazingly friendly and the rooms are just fantastic!!! They're large, modern, extremely clean and the beds are sooooo comfortable!

The staff at the hotel really couldn't do enough to help you out e.g. providing details about the area, ordering cabs, etc.....

The facilities are really top notch at the hotel...the gym is great, the pool is good, the jacuzzi was amazing and the hotel resturant was...you guessed it....great!!

The breakfast offering is well worth the money that they ask for it, so I deffinetly recommend purchasing it!

Anywho..............I could ramble on all day, just book this hotel!!! :P

I'm addicted to bidding for hotels on the discount sites; my family and i get to stay in the historic district and i love trying out new places for a good price. Normally we end up with the Hyatt when we bid, which is a great hotel on the riverfront, but a few things annoy us about the place. The Marriott is a flip in the sense that it's a good fifteen minute walk from the river (which stinks), but the hotel itself is nicer, the people more friendly, and i didn't feel like valet and additional services and products were being forced on me. Other than the long walk to Bay and River street, the hotel was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and the 14.00 parking fee wasn't nearly as bad as the typical 20 to 25. I liked that the walls were thick and the sound of our whiny toddlers didn't invade the entire hotel as it did at, say the Planters Inn.
