“Ralph - excellent tour guide”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

Hubby and I took the walking foody tour during our four day visit to Savannah, it was amazing how much knowledge Ralph had in regards to the city. The downside was the food, the portions were small, the food not so good. From what I can remember, we went to Angels BBQ which was served in a small dish, it tasted fine, but I ended up sick from it later that evening. Then we went to a burger place, which was also just alright. We did go to the Tea and Spice Exchange, which was great. We went back to purchase things later. Also, Leopolds Ice Cream, which is famous for some reason, but it was just ice cream.
The worse thing was no drinks were offered, and the chefs did not come out and talk to us about the food. We have been on several food tours, and this one was the worst as far as food goes. BUT I feel torn because, Ralph was such a great tour guide. He saved the trip. I'd recommend trying a tour, just maybe not the foody tour.

“Have your history and eat it too.”
Reviewed 21 July 2013

We chose this tour to have something a little different to do while in Savannah for several days and it was wonderful. Ralph met us in the historic district and took us to a variety of locations where we ate our way through the history and culinary features of Savannah. We started with Angels BBQ (which I don't think you'd ever find on your own), moved on to a Tiki Bar for delicious beef sliders, sampled ice cream at Leopold's and made our own choices at Lady and Sons. We also visited a few gourmet shops with wonderful balsamic vinegars and spices, tasting at every spot. Finally, we landed at Wright's Square Cafe where the proprieter really knows his chocolate...and now we do too. It was really great to get little tastes from a variety of places, especially when there is never enough time to try every restaurant you hope to. By the end of the tour we were completely satiated with food and facts and had thoroughly enjoyed our time with Ralph, who seems to know everything about Savannah. I just wish we'd had another day in Savannah to go out with Ralph again for one of his other tours.

“Walking Foody Tour of Savannah is a joke”
Reviewed 10 May 2013

This walking foody tour is sold as "Eat your way through Savannah's Historic District on this 2-hour walking tour. ... dipping sauces, Georgia Peach tea, local honey, and handmade gourmet chocolates". The Georgia Peach tea was the highlight of this tour. We stood in "ANGELS BBQ" with a plastic cup and a fork referred to the "best BBQ in Savannah. It might have been good on a bun or a piece of bread or maybe with some actual BBQ sauce on it. It wasn't enough shredded pork to even put on a piece of bread. We then went to a bar called Flip Flops for one of the "best hamburgers in town". Might be if you like raw hamburger on a slider bun. We then walked over to Lady and Sons restaurant. I was so totally disappointed that Paula Deen would even put her name on this. We were taken in thru the back door, handed a styrofoam cup and told we could have one item off the buffet. This included fried chicken, dried out pasta, corn (fresh out of the can), green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy. lima beans, baked sweet potato slices and some mac and cheese that looked like it had been sitting there all day. No table, no chairs, no plastic fork, no napkin. We were then ushered to the park to sit on a bench to eat. No beverages offered at any time. Then we went to Leopolds Ice Cream and got a choice of one sample cone. We were then taken to Low Country Gourmet foods to sample balsamic vinegars and then it was on to the Spice and Tea Exchange for a cup of the Peach Tea. Then we were taken back to Wright Square Cafe where we started for a chocolate tasting. This included one piece of pre-chosen chocolate where we were advised that they do not make their own chocolates but get them from other distributors.

The whole thing was a hugh disappointment. The food was not that good and the SAMPLES left much to be desired. We ate at several different restaurants in the historic district and none of these were not even mentioned in the tour.

What a joke. I would not recommend this tour to anyone unless you just happen to have $59. to throw away.

“Fantastic Food!”
Reviewed 30 March 2013

Oh my goodness! Do this tour. You will not only get some interesting facts along the way, but samples of some great food and culture along the way. Ralph was wonderful, introducing us to Angels BBQ, Leopold's Ice Cream and Lady and Sons, just to mention a few. Everything was so much fun. What a great way to experience Savannah. Thank you so much. Oh one tip...don't eat lunch before you go.

“Wonderful way to meet Savannah”
Reviewed 15 November 2012

We spent a wonderful few hours on a walking tour of the local food places and eateries. Our guide Stew was very knowledgeable about the history and also the food we tried. There wasn't a bad stop on the tour, but the educational side of it was amazing. We learned so much about the history of the area as well as the food we tried. An all round worth while trip
