If you are a train/railroad fan, this is a great attraction. In addition to the already restored rail cars, there are several "in the works" that are just as interesting. The still operational roundtable is a gem. If you are into photography, whether or not you are into trains, this is also a terrific spot for photo opportunities. Well worth the time and low entrance fee.

This is across the street from the Visitor Center and easy to find. But probably not good when raining. Great place for the rail buff - person who likes real trains, that is. There is a lot yet to be done but don't miss it if you are interested in railroad history.

We found the train museum very interesting. The staff was very helpful including walking us through the office cars which they keep locked up.

This facility is a gem in the rough. Problem is they have been working to improve it for the last 12 years and have made very little progress. Parking is a BIG problem, very few spaces, and what is available is on dirt side streets. Admission was cheap, I think $5. The grounds are dusty & muddy. If you are a serious train buff, then go, don't miss it. However, if you are just looking for something to see, skip it, there are better things to see and do in Savannah. Loads of train history here, but you have to walk around and find it by reading signs. Too bad none of the train cars are open for viewing, like at other train museums.

WOW- take your favorite train buff or child to this great site!

The restored trains and buildings are great history lessons about the city of Savannah. Restoration is still in progress, and it's interesting to see the process of bringing back the roundhouse.

Lots of walking around and up close contact with the trains. our only disappointment was that you couldnt tour the interior of some of the trains on the open tour.

The model train museum is a trip if you've already toured Savannah- great to pick out the sites you've seen, and to admire the detail work of making the entire city! And for Tennessee travelers- don't forget to spot the "See Rock City" barn!

The museum shop has something for everybody- toy trains for kids, cookbooks for mom, and plenty of items for the trainbuffs!

Expect to spend 2-3 hours if you stay and go through everything- don't forget to sit through the info video- you'll come away sounding like a history buff!

We really give the museum 4 1/2 stars- once the renovations get a little more done and more trains are open, then the museum will deserve 5 full stars!
