Great hotel itself with nicely appointed rooms but staff never treated me like i was a valued guest even though i am a diamond member of hhonors program. shuttle unavailable for pickup from airport, it cost 20 bucks for my husband, son, and me to take taxi to hotel a half mile away. same problem the next morning to go pick up a rental car. staff unfriendly and unapologetic. breakfast was nice, normal breakfast "upgrade" fee for hot items. i wanted dinner from the restaurant which is advertised as open from 6am to 11pm each day but staff told me that they were closed and only open certain hours for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and suggested nearby waffle house. i stayed two nights but ended up checking out and staying at another local hotel for the remainder of my trip. i did not feel welcome or appreciated by the staff at this hotel. NOT what i expect from a hotel in the HHonors program; management response was indignant when i addressed my issues with him.

if you stay at this hotel, don't expect an automatic upgrade. instead, ask for a lakeview.

Basically a very clean, very new, typical Garden Inn.
Positives: Clean and New. Nice pool and exercise room. Free high speed internet with LAN cables in each room. Quiet. 15 minutes to downtown Savannah and Roebling Road track. Expanded Cable selection. Really professional and friendly cook staff in the restaurant. Like all Garden Inns they have refrigerators and microwaves in the room.
Negatives: Smoking and nonsmoking rooms on same floor. There are "nonsmoking" rooms not labeled as "nonsmoking". The air-conditioning is only recalculated and there is no vent to bring in fresh air. However the windows can be opened about 2 inches. Typical charge for the hot portion of the breakfast for Diamond members. Manager very nice but front desk needs to be a bit friendlier. They have a policy of placing 3 bath towels in the room instead of four. I was told here are only two upgradeable rooms and I was told that they are not available because people stay in them for months at a time? The parking lot does not circle hotel which makes it difficult for those with trailers. Most Hilton Garden Inns have complimentary cookies for guests at the front desk; not here.
Be careful of rooms 210-214 because they look out over and are right next to the HVAC systems and it is a bit noisy. No exhaust fans in the bathrooms

the staff here is terrible. i made my reservation by calling the hotel direct. after ringing about 20 times, a lady finally answered and was not very helpful! she had to transfer me to someone else, who only half-heartedly answered my questions.

my first impression of the hotel was bad because of the staff. this immediately melted away when i walked through the doors. what a beautiful lobby area! i was very impressed. when i reached the registration desk, however, i again was met with the same staff behavior that had left me disgusted when i made my reservation. they seemed to be BOTHERED that i was checking in, despite the fact that i am a very valued member of the Hilton honors program! (i later found that the lady who answered the phone and was bothered by my arrival was the manager of their front desk!!!) nonetheless, the hotel was beautiful and clean. i was very pleased with the hotel itself, it was just the staff that made me want to never come back. i stay in hotels about 70 nights a year for business and am rarely am phased my a dirty room, rude or ignorant employee because i know its only one night i usually have to be involved with them. i like to give people a chance, too, because i know that everyone has bad days.

almost the entire staff at this hotel (with the exception of the housekeeper who cleaned my room and a young girl in the restaurant) seemed to be totally unconcerned with the guests and their satisfaction. (would you even believe that when i needed the shuttle to the airport at 11am they COULD NOT FIND their own shuttle driver?? i was told to call a cab if i needed to get there in a hurry! they eventually got a neighboring hotel to give me a ride, but i was panicked for about an hour.)

the restaurant at this hotel was great. the service was slow, but i was told that the server was new and had only came in to interview and ended up working, or something like that. she was sluggish and shy, but i attribute this to her newness. she was likeable and pleasant.

the same server brought me one helluva mixed drink when i asked her to surprise me--the restaurant at this hotel and the design of this hotel are the only saving graces the hotel has to offer. i do not plan to stay here again. there are other hotels in this area that will make me feel like i'm valued. i give this hotel a 3 out of 10.
