Owner description: Andrew Low commissioned New York architect John Norris to design and construct his house in 1848. Norris came to Savannah to design the Custom House on Bay Street and remained in Savannah to build many desirable residences with the latest in technology and luxury. The Italianate exterior features intricate cast iron railings and side balconies contrasting with the smooth stuccoed brick walls. The well proportioned rooms are decorated with elaborate plaster cornices and carved woodwork. The delicate balance of exterior restraint and opulent interior resulted in an elegant villa for the family.

Went on a Groupon. Tour is about 40 minutes and takes you to all of the rooms on the first and second floor of the home. Amazing original pieces everywhere-nothing is a reproduction. No photos allowed, however. Guide (Harriett) was very informative.

This is a place not to be missed. This tour made history come alive by providing the details of the lives of Andrew Low, his family and his guests, along with the original furnishings that were in excellent condition. Our guide made it an overall great experience.

Tour is about 45 minutes long. Much of the furniture and painting are original. Beautifully restored interior. Our docent, Harriet, was very knowledgeable and offered a good understanding of Andrew Low.

This place shows one how the very wealthy lived during the 19th century but has very little original pieces of furniture and other things that are original to the house. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took her time in answering all our questions even though it was the last tour of the day and closing time.

This is an old and beautiful home owned by Andrew Low. He was a rich man in Savannah for his work in the cotton industry. The tour give you an inside in the family history including his son's marriage to Juliette Gordon Low. This is also the house she passed away in though the bed has been moved to her own birthhome. It was a nice tour.
