“The bathroom is small and amenities gone then you ask and....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2014

We were going to stay at a B&B, and then we said - Us? Queen Bed? B&B.. No... Let's just go to a "regular hotel" because we'll only be sleeping there.
When we pulled in for valet parking - it was a disaster. We sat for 15-20 mins before we could even get in the garage, and then were directed to the side street for parking. Not happy. Had to get the luggage trolley and trot our stuff in... and that was the end of the bad stuff.

The location is GREAT!!!
The suite was good, the bathroom a little small and we ran out of soap and TP really quick. When we told housekeeping, we were then inundated with shampoo, soap, conditioner, cups.

This is a non-smoking hotel - if you smoke - ask for a balcony room. You can go out there and smoke.

The concierge - Pam - to die for. While I had a lot of ideas and maps and tours, she added to the experience of Savannah. She also had coupons!!!
Bar was good; breakfast was also good. It is expensive to eat in Savannah. Hotel for breakfast was $14 or so.... and all you could eat. I was stuffed from all those dinners, so for $6 you can get coffee and fruit and toast - 2-3 items and they give you a deal.
We will stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a balcony room if you smoke.

Friendly Staff. Comfortable room. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a balcony with a river view. It was pretty, but you could hear sirens passing during the night. If you want a quieter room ask for one that doesn't face Bay Street. Parking was $25.00 per night and once you are in Savannah, there is no need for a car. We went to a concert at The Savannah Civic Center and had no problem walking to and from the concert. Police are present everywhere, so you feel safe.

We stopped in Savannah for a few nights on our way to Orlando and we were thrilled at booking this hotel. From the time we arrived we were greeted with the friendliest staff. We booked a king suite and it was plenty of room for my husband and I to have our own room while our girls, still both sleeping in playpens, slept in the sitting area.

Highly recommend the buffet breakfast in the morning. Although it is buffet you can still order made-to-order items like omelettes and pancakes at no additional charge. Our server, Nelson, was so friendly and helpful. We ate here every morning we were in town.

The only suggestion I may make to potential lodgers is to request a room on the back side of the hotel. The main street is quite noisy with trucks and cars at all times of the day. But other than that, this is definitely a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms backing on to the side streets are quieter

I am a fan of Hilton Garden Inns. No matter where you go, the quality is excellent, the locations are great, and the breakfasts are the best you can find in a hotel. This Inn, however, is a cut above their already high standard. It is in a historic building right in the middle of the "action" with beautiful rooms and lobby, great service and while a little bit pricier than some of the nearby hotels, it is worth every extra penny for its convenience and high standards. Parking, as with any hotel in the historic district, is better left to the valets and pay the few extra bucks. While walking at night in the Historic District can be iffy, it is as safe a place as any in the District because of the lighting and the City Market and its many restaurants right in back of it. If you get a river view, you will not only see River Street and its factoring houses, but the South Carolina Bridge, Hutchinson Island, and South Carolina itself. The view at night of the lights along the river is breathtaking. Spend the extra bucks and stay here - it is worth it!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the river.

The Hilton Garden Inn is located at the edge of the historic district. Our room on the 5th floor had a small balcony and gave us a good view of the bridge, the river, and the large container ships coming into port. I'd not have wanted to be on a lower floor, because the view would only have been the busy street and the 50's style motel across the street. We found our room to be clean and the bed comfortable. There is no restaurant on site, but the hotel does offer an adequate breakfast buffet including cooked to order items. The concierge booked us on a trolley tour of the city and arranged for us to be picked up at the hotel which we appreciated. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a mandatory valet parking fee. This is not a luxury property, but is certainly more than adequate for a stay of a couple of days while sight seeing in Savannah.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room with a river view.

It is always refreshing to stay in a hotel that is ten years old and looks as clean and crisp as the day it opened. Check-in was fast and efficient. Room was spotless, grounds are immaculate, breakfast was great. The do recognize HHonors Diamond Level guests. Very Nice Stay.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms face away from the street.

HGI is on Bay street right in the action. a walk from city market and local restaurants and clubs. . The service was excellent. Clean rooms and nice staff. I will stay the next time I'm in Savannah. I just wish breakfast was free.
