“friendly staff, large quiet rooms, very clean!”
Reviewed 9 May 2012

I happened to stay at the hotel at the same time as a very large middle school trip. Everything was so clean and the rooms were so quiet I had no idea there were any kids in the hotel at all. The Front Desk staff were attentive and welcoming and even shared some of their local favorites so we could avoid the tourist places. The pool was immaculate and plenty of seating at breakfast. Perfect location also, just a few blocks from River Street and Starbucks which was a life saver, yet far enough away from the crowds downtown for the Tall Ships Festival. Definitly reccomend this property to anyone staying in Savannah either for business or vacation.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days while in Savannah for a family vacation. Can not beat the price with free, waffles, bagels the usual fare, for 3 adults eating. The price was good also. The location was pretty good, you are on the edge of the historic district. If you don't mind walking a little bit, this hotel for the price/breakfast/location was pretty good. We did not have a car (taxi from airport about $40 for 3 was a bit pricey but got us quick to our location. Savannah is a walking town, the trolleys are a great way to get around. You are about 2-3 blocks away from getting the trolleys/shuttle to tybee island. About 4-5 blocks away from the starting edge of the river front.

We wanted a hotel that was affordable (under $150/night) and had smoking rooms, and to that extent Hampton Inn met our expectations.

The hotel is within walking distance of many of the attractions in Savannah's historic district, but walking down MLK at night made me very nervous. The edge of town is not the nicest area when the sun goes down. We ended up driving far more than walking for most of the trip. Parking can be a pain but there are several garages in the area.

The hotel is no frills. Complimentary internet in our room was wired only. We had two laptops but just one of us could be connected at a time. There is no room service (as is with most Hampton Inns) but a local bar and grill offers delivery until midnight, and had a decent selection of food without the marked up price that usually comes with room service.

Our room was clean and was cleaned up every day by the maid staff. Our bathroom was nice except that all the doors were kind of broken, and often got stuck when closed (making a loud noise when you forced one back open). Parking is $8.00 a day. There were about 30 spots in the hotel lot and then a large lot behind the hotel for spillover (we often ended up there because the close spots were always filled).

The complimentary breakfast was a big plus, allowing us to fill our guts early in the day and would usually carry us until dinnertime. The suite shop had snacks and some toiletries for sale, at reasonable prices. There was also a coin-op laundromat right next to our room (we were worried that it would be noisy, but we've had relatively quiet nights, except for some teenagers stomping around the halls on our last night...management quickly put a stop to that).

If you're here on business or with kids I'd imagine the Hampton Inn would be a great bargain. As first-time visitors to the city we were hoping for something a little closer to the action and a little more romantic (although I wasn't really expecting romance out of a Hampton Inn). Still, the price can't be beat for a mid-level chain hotel.

Room Tip: A room facing MLK would probably offer the best view, otherwise you're stuck staring at a parkin...

Thank you for your review. Your comments will help us to improve on our service and amenities for the next guest. Do you recall your room number? I would like to correct the bathroom door issue that you mentioned. Also, we will be completely wireless throughout the hotel this year. I am available at any time if you have additional questions or would like to plan another visit to Savannah!

Hampton Inn Savannah was an excellent choice of hotels. We were upgraded to a suite due to not having king beds in regular rooms. We loved our suite, had a nice couch, very comfy room. Within easy walking distance to river street and city market. DOT (free bus) bus stop, Tybee island shuttle all by the visitors center which was only a block away. Distillery Rest. good place to eat is across the street from the visitors center. If I visit Savannah again I willl stay at the Hampton MLK Blvd. Very nice staff in there, always had a smile and were happy to help with any questions. Only thing I would have changed was to have the pool heated but it was April, I'm sure the water gets warmer in the summer months. All in all, I would recommend this place, it is not only nice but it is affordable compared to others.

Only room left was a smoking room .We took it as things were tight . The smoke smell was incredible. I really think they could and should do better in fumigating smoking rooms or eliminate them all together. Breakfast although free was Inedible. Will not stay ther,e again ,other Hamptons are much better for traveling and will stay at others. This one has a management problem.

Room Tip: Do not take a smoking room

We stayed here for a bachelorette weekend. The suite was spacious and well-kept, except that the pull-out bed had dirty sheets on it (which they promptly fixed when we asked). The hotel has a nice relaxed, Southern vibe and as always with Hampton Inn, the free breakfast was excellent. The location is good, about 2 minutes walk into the center of the historic district and surrounded by restaurants and bars.
