“Our first B&B experience ... and now we're spoiled!”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We just celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the beautiful Olde Savannah Inn. This was our first experience at a B&B and we are now definitely spoiled!. From her first warm embrace upon our arrival to the last delicious bite of breakfast on our final day, Kathleen ... the lovely innkeeper ... made sure we felt welcomed and enjoyed our stay in Savannah. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and full of historical charm. Kathleen's abundant hospitality and attention to detail is evident as soon as you walk through the front door. Our gorgeous room and bath were impeccably appointed and meticulously clean. And the fruit and cheese plate and glasses of wine that Kathleen brought to our room as we were getting settled in was the perfect snack after a long day of travel. The gourmet breakfasts that Kathleen prepares and cheerfully serves in her sun-filled breakfast room are absolutely delicious ... I'm not sure how we will adjust back to our normal breakfast routine of oatmeal and yogurt! :) Kathleen's suggestions for restaurant options were exactly what we were looking for and she graciously assisted with our dinner and cab reservations. We had a perfect anniversary celebration in Savannah, and Kathleen and the Olde Savannah Inn are a very special part of our memories. Thank you, again, Kathleen for "spoiling" us ... we enjoyed every minute!

One of the best opportunities that an Innkeeper can have is a guest who is sharing the Bed and Breakfast experience for the first time. Thank you for all the lovely compliments. I enjoyed every minute of surprising you with all my favorites, especially breakfast time. You were so delightful so it made my job easy. Part of my service is for you to have all your activities in place when you come so it is less for you to do but to simply enjoy beautiful Savannah. I am glad you loved your entire stay and the best compliment you can give me is a referral in which you did by writing this review. Please think of me if you know a friend or family member is coming to Savannah. I would love to spoil them as that is what I do best. Have blessed Holidays and hopefully, I will see you again in the future, Your Savannah Hostess and friend, Kathleen

Our stay at the Olde Savannah Inn was fantastic. Kathleen, the owner, goes above and beyond to provide her guests with an outstanding b&b experience. Our room, the versailles court, was phenomenal, must be the best in all of savannah. The jacuzzi, separate clawfoot tub, and shower really made our time in savannah a relaxing one. The ironed bedsheets speak to this inn and Kathleen's attention to detail. Breakfast with the big band music, candlelight, and warm company topped off our stay. We can't forget to mention Mr. Cooper, what a joy. For any pet lovers who miss their best friends while away from home, Mr. Cooper's gentle spirit and loving soul will make you feel at ease. If you are headed to savannah and want to experience a piece of the past, you won't want to miss The Old Savannah Inn. Thank you for everything Kathleen! S and W

This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it exceeded our expectations.

Kathleen is a warm and inviting innkeeper with a GORGEOUS inn. Her attention to detail throughout the inn is impeccable. Her breakfast was to die for, absolutely the best in Savannah.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, LOOK NO FURTHER; The Olde Savannah Inn is your home away from home. Kathleen, thanks again for everything. We were very pleased with the entire experience.

I do wish we'd seen some of the other negative reviews before staying here for our honeymoon. To me, The Olde Savannah Inn was a study of contrasts. To start with the positive, our room was beautifully renovated and decorated. We stayed in Versailles Court, the "honeymoon" suite of the B&B. The bedroom area consisted of a bed, a desk and chair at the foot of the bed, and a decorative couch separating the bedroom from the bathroom. We were instructed not to use it, as it was decorative only. The room would have benefitted from replacing the decorative couch with a functional one.

The bathroom was gorgeous in our opinion, with an oversized jacuzzi tub, and two claw footed his and hers bath tubs. The toilet is not closed off though, so if you desire privacy on the toilet, your partner should probably go downstairs or something.

The innkeeper, Kathleen, was completely inappropriate. I would have told her so when she asked at the end of our stay if it was perfect, but it only would have ended up in an awkward argument that would have made us late for a scheduled tour. She seemed to put everything else before her guests. We were greeted right away by her one year old poorly trained beagle. He barked, howled, bit (teething apparently) and he was totally in charge of the household. At one point during breakfast, talking about her dog who was barking in the dining room, she stated "if you can put up with a crying baby, you can put up with him". This is debatable, but I would argue most of her guests are looking for a B&B to escape crying babies, not spend time with them. We don't mind dogs... we actually love dogs, but her dog was a bit out of control, and any dog who spends time at a B&B should be extremely well-behaved. Also, her dog is only referenced on the Inn's home page as "Mr. Cooper". Neither of us had any idea that this inn had a pet dog until we got there. I would advise stating this very clearly on the website, since many may have allergies. The dog does spend evenings off-property, but was there at every other time during our stay.

As for breakfast, my food was perfectly fine. I liked the fruit served with breakfast, and everything else was average. However, I warned in my booking comment that my wife couldn't eat dairy. We mentioned this when we got there as well. Kathleen attempted to prepare her breakfast frittata without cheese by smothering pesto on it. Sadly, she didn't realize that pesto is made up largely of Parmesan cheese. My wife did her best to scrape it away, but this still resulted in some digestive issues later in the day. Breakfast the next day was dairy free, but my wife's pancake was mostly undercooked batter.

The last topic was the one that had me extremely upset. For our special dinner out to celebrate our honeymoon, we settled on Alligator Soul. As we were leaving to meet our reservation, Kathleen asked us where we were headed. After telling her, she said, "I'm just curious, how did you decide on that place?" We pointed out the brochure on her entrance table, that our fellow guests had raved about it, and it had a number of 5 star reviews online. She said she just couldn't condone eating there since they started serving alligator. Then she started lecturing us on inhumane slaughter of animals. She cited extremely graphic examples that made us uncomfortable listening, but we didn't want to be rude by just walking away. This lasted for almost 15 minutes, until she finally closed with a snarky, "Well, I hope you enjoy your dinner." We were late for our reservation due to this disturbing interaction, but found Alligator Soul is 100% farm to table. Everything is raised in sustainable ways and if they can't get a certain meat the right way, it's taken off their menu until they can. Of all the places for anybody to have moral issues with, this isn't it. While we take no issue with our innkeepers beliefs, it was completely inappropriate and unprofessional for her to push them on us, given that we were her paying guests.

This could be a beautiful and charming place for a honeymoon but ended up being awkward and uncomfortable, and we didn't feel safe in voicing our concerns directly to Kathleen.

My husband and I stayed at the Olde Savannah Inn and truly enjoyed our time there!
The house is simply beautiful, inside and out and our room was beyond what I imagined. Roomy and comfortable with all the extras of a five star inn.
Kathleen, our hostess, created splendid, mouth-watering breakfasts and evening treats adding to
the pleasure of our visit.
The location is perfect for walking to all the historic areas of Savannah therefore, we never needed our car. It's the perfect Bed & Breakfast for your trip to Savannah!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Olde Savannah Inn. Kathleen is a skilled hostess who warmly greets and takes care of her guests. The old house is amazing outside and in. The breakfasts are first rate and will spoil you mightily. The location is perfect for walking old Savannah and we never needed our car or public transportation. The beds are very comfortable and our ground-level room was very quiet. Furnishings are antique and candy for the eye. We had a delectable treat waiting for us by our bed every day after touring Savannah. We never lacked for suggestions about things to do or places to eat. In short, we were spoiled, and we'll miss being there.

The Olde Savannah Inn is conveniently located in the Historic District of Savannah close to Forsyth Park. The Inn is a wonderfully restored home with antique furnishing and modern updates to make it very comfortable. Kathleen, the Inn Keeper, is fastidious about keeping her inn neat and clean and she loves to do bountiful, "over the top" breakfasts. "Bed and Feast" would more aptly describe your experience!
Savannah is a wonderful, charming and historic place to visit. Staying at the Olde Savannah Inn makes the experience even better.
