“Savannah 2 hour Squared History Walking Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014

On our 3 day stay in Savannah, I made a reservation for a walking tour without knowing anything about it. I expected to see the original historic squares and surrounding areas. We met Ralph at Johnny Mercer's statue on Ellis Square and since we were the only tour members, he gave us very informative tour. We walked through most squares down to Forsyth Park; We covered more squares than I anticipated. We toured the Andrew Low house and finished the tour in that area. It was an easy walk back to Bay Street. Thanks for the informational tour.

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

We took this tour hoping to get a small sampling of several well known restaurants. We were not disappointed. Whistle Stop Cafe served fried green tomatoes, Lady & Sons served off the buffet one item, I choose collard greens (what could be more southern).Johnny Harris' Restaurant, back to the 30's with a sample of their menu. Sisters of the New South Cafe, great sampling of soul food. Next we visited Tubby's Tank House, dessert of key lime pie; delicious. Interesting tour guide and wonderful hospitality at each eating establishment. Recommend this tour, a quick way to visit many places without overeating.

“Walking food tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 November 2013

Food: Portions are sample size, not portions you would see as part of any meal. The food was ok but somewhat underwhelming. We went to: Angel's barbeque, Leopold's ice cream, Flip-something burger place, Low Country Gourmet (a balsamic vinegar shop), Lady & Son's, a chocolate shop (at Wright square), and a spice and tea shop. The vinegar, spice, and chocolate shops gave us samples to take home. The barbeque was not pulled, it was pulvarized into what looked like baby food. The burger/slider was undercooked - the center was pink and the juices were red. The Leopold's ice cream was from heaven and the vinegar shop was interesting b/c we sampled vinegar on ice cream, which seemed odd at first but was not bad!

Content: 1) I would have liked to have seen a list of the stops in advance - our tour was on our second day and, if we had known where we'd go, we would have planned our first day differently to avoid duplicating. (We had unknowingly already been to two of the places that were on the food tour.) 2) The information presented on the tour was more about Savannah history and the town itself rather than about food. I was expecting to learn more about popular ingredients and cooking in Savannah, as well as a general overview of local dining (with some spots sampled, as we did). Instead, the presentation was redundant with the history tour we had taken the previous day. Also, it seemed more like an ad for other tours offered by this company.

Guide: Ralph clearly knows and loves Savannah history and culture. He was friendly, the tour was well organized, and it is always a joy to interact with someone who is sharing his knowledge and passion. It seems that each of the tour guides in Savannah deliver their presentations a little differently and include different tidbits of information. I really enjoyed Ralph's tour and, in general, I think a walking tour can be more informative than a trolley tour because you can ask questions.

“Fun Martini Tour”

My husband and I went on the Martini Tour our first night in Savannah. We were the only ones on the tour. Our guide Ralph was very knowledgable about Savannah history. We had 4 martinis, all very good.
