We stayed only one night at this hotel on May 7th. The location was perfect and we did have a slight view of the river from our 6th floor room. Even though the main street was directly below us, we did not hear any noise. The rooms are very nice, clean, up to date with small fridge, microwave and flat screen TV. Staff was courteous and accommodating, greeting us with a smile any time we approached the desk. The free breakfast was a plus and had many selections, including hot entrees. There are so many restaurants in walking distance as well as the Riverfront area for dining and shopping. We did use the valet parking after being told it was only $2 more than the garage next door. Of course, we could have saved the tipping by using City Garage, but the convenience was worth it. The roof top pool was very nice. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Higher floors if a view is important

Having stayed in Holiday Inn Express locations often, I thought I knew what to expect. This property exceeded my expectations. The location couldn't be better and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. When there was a problem in Savannah (totally unrelated to the hotel ) but one that affected our tour reservations, the staff quickly and efficiently changed our tour plans, kept our luggage in storage and did not charge us extra to keep our car in valet parking. The cost per night is certainly fair for a city location.

We chose the HIE as guest accommodations for our son's wedding in April and were not disappointed. Actually, my husband and I travelled to Savannah in December and stayed at the Avia, thinking that would be the best choice, but after visiting the HIE, decided it better fit our needs.
The location is central to everything, especially one of our favorite restaurant/bars, Churchills English Pub. Our guests could easily walk to the wedding at the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, and the reception at the Morris Center on the end of Bay Street. It was also convenient to trolleys and touring for out of town guests who wished to sightsee.
The staff were the best part of our stay. Katie, the special events coordinator, kept us updated on guest reservations. Antonio met me at check-in and assisted in unloading an entire van of "wedding essentials". Ricardo also made numerous trips retrieving the van and loading and unloading. Gregory, Hope and Shavon (sp?) were helpful and lovely at interpreting and sorting out billing questions. And Jimmy - we felt like he was a member of the family after our 5-day stay! Also, the bartender (did not get her name), made sure we were aware of the relaxation area near the pool and hot tub on the rooftop. One evening about 30 of us, ordered pizzas and brought refreshments up to the roof and relaxed. Since it was after the downstairs bar had closed, Jimmy gave us directions to the nearest package store and had the pizzas delivered to the rooftop.
Loved the complimentary breakfast, mostly because we could just hang out downstairs and visit with our guests as they made their way down for breakfast.
My only complaint would be the parking charges. We were given conflicting information about the charges. We were originally told months in advance, that if you signed up for the HI rewards program, parking was gratus. This was not the case and $15 per car/day adds up. Maybe a discount could be offered for folks renting multiple rooms for an event?
Overall, a great experience and would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: 7th floor was great. Especially corner room although no tub, only shower in some rooms.

This was my 2nd time at this hotel and dispite what you may think about a Holiday Inn, this isn't what you'd expect because it's high-end all the way. Everything is newer (completely renovated about 5 years ago). Great location too.

We drove in early and our room wasn't ready so the valet insisted he would park the car and if we needed anything out of it, he would get it for us (we were apprehensive since we had a lot of luggage and valuables). We asked if we could park it in the driveway temporarily just so we could get a bite to eat, then check in; but, he was adamant about parking the car. We then went across the street to great bistro and shared a bottle of wine and a nice salad. When we got back our room was ready and of course we needed something out of the car but the valet (there were 4 of them and all standing around doing nothing) gave us a bit of a hard time. I thought it was a tip issue (knowing my husband is a bit cheap sometimes) but was surprised to learn he had given him $5. That was the ONLY negative about this hotel and it wasn't even a huge factor. My only other issue was none of them knew where anything was (convenient store?) They had us walking 2 miles to a store for beverages but there was a store literally a 'stone's throw' away.

We had a corner king with an amazing view (8th floor) as the Tall Ships were in town. The room was spacious, nearly as large as a studio in NYC. Also, the bed was fantastic - (comfortable!!) The pool was clean and the deck just needed a bar - and it would've been peeerfect! The fitness room is tiny and on the same floor as the outdoor pool.

The bar is closed on Sunday - the day we were there (unfortunately) but they had a nice sized breakfast in the lobby the next morning (free).

Room Tip: Ask (nicely) to upgrade to a corner room (being a Priority Club member helps) on a high floor (you c...

Great view from 7th floor corner room. Good location for walking to squares, shops & restaurants. First visit to Savannah--enjoyed it. Good breakfast in the mornings. Special thanks to Jimmy & staff at front desk in the afternoons-great people. Jimmy was also helpful in suggestions for places to eat. Only down side is the bed was very firm--to hard for my husbands back. Can't say enough good things about our stay.

We arrived at 9:00am after a 6 hour drive with a 6 month old baby, in which we had left the house with very little sleep at 3:00 that morning. I asked Hope at the front desk if there was any way we could check in early as we were very tired! She notified Rachel to ask if they could get our room cleaned next, and told us to get the valet to unload the car. She came out to the car within 2 minutes and said they had decided to upgrade our room to a King size, and that it was ready for us to move in! I was so pleased. This was only the beginning of our wonderful stay with excellent service throughout all three days. The location is fantastic and the staff extremely friendly. If ever I visit Savannah again, there will be no question that I would stay here.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor just above the loading/unloading area. The rooms must be well insulated...

I got a free corner river view upgrade on the 5th floor. The room is good sized from the corner. The river view is partially blocked at this level. I could hear the traffic. It didnt bug me too much since I was tired. I would ask for the top, 8th floor and skip the cornor upgrade next time. Nevertheless, it is a nice room, clean, with a comfy bed. Most people are very friendly.
