The Hamilton-Turner Inn is a great destination for a romantic getaway. The people that run the place go out of their way to accommodate your every need. The breakfast is cooked to order and is delicious. They also recommend tours and restaurants and will book your times for you. We will definitely visit again.

Room Tip: We like the ground floor rooms because they have direct access to the street without disturbing any...

We had a fantastic stay at the Hamilton-Turner Inn. We went to Savannah over Presidents' Day weekend for a girls' getaway and stayed in the Earl of Chatham suite which had a lovely view of Lafayette Square. The inn was absolutely beautiful and our room was large, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and quiet. There is free parking along the side street beside the inn and it is walking distance to everything in the historic district. But what sets this inn apart is the wonderful personalized service. From the moment we checked in, we felt pampered and well cared for, from the delicious full hot breakfasts to the afternoon tea and scones to the evening hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and wine to the nightly turn down service with homemade cookies and fluffy bathrobes. The attention to detail and friendly service at this inn is second to none. The little details -- from the "welcome gift" of chocolate covered peanut brittle, to the complimentary bottled waters, to the DVD rental libarary and in-room CD player, to the excellent concierge service -- made it all the more special. The friendly child ghost upstairs and the interesting history of this inn also adds to the Savannah charm of this wonderful place. My only caveat is that there is no elevator so keep that in mind if you have problems with stairs. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and it comes with my highest recommendations.

Jim and Gay are fabulous inn keepers and truly make your stay warm and welcome. The suites are so charming and the breakfast, coffee, lemonade/iced tea, wine and port at various points throughout the day are great ways to unwind for a few minutes before the hustle and bustle. The Inn has a great location - in walking distance to the City Market and Riverwalk, but also far enough away from these tourist traps!

My husband and I started planning our one year anniversary shortly after our honeymoon! Sounds silly but we enjoy traveling so much that we always plan ahead so we feel we're getting the best of the best. We're so glad we did because we found that in The Hamilton Turner!
Our reservation was for the week after Thanksgiving and our only regret was not booking a slightly later date because the Christmas decor was just starting to be put up when we arrived. We were told by many locals and even Gay Dunlop (Innkeeper) that the Christmas decor only got more beautiful and elaborate! The little bit that we saw was exceptional! Especially the large tree in the parlor!
In addition the sheer beauty of the Inn, another pleasing aspect was the service and the welcoming demeanor of the staff. I'm sorry but names of most of the staff do escape me. We arrived right at 3pm (check-in time) and the door was locked, but simply because they were decorating for Christmas, we offered to come back but they let us get checked in anyway and simply apologized for the boxes. We didn't mind this at all; in a funny way, it actually made us feel more at home! Gay was so gracious upon welcoming us and we were even offered help with our luggage. We accepted graciously due to the fact that our room was on the second floor and we had a few heavy backs as a result of two weeks of traveling on the road. I cannot remember the name of the young man who helped us with the luggage, but he was a local college student and very very friendly! When we offered to tip him, he politely declined and kindly asked us to leave additional gratuity at the end of our stay to be shared among the entire staff as long as we were pleased with our full stay. We found this to be very classy, and we were more than happy to leave extra gratuity at the end of our stay. We were doted on the entire two days we were there. It truly felt like we were guests in someone's home, very well taken care of. Excursions and tours were coordinated for us by the front desk staff which was so convenient.
Breakfast was served to us by Gay which also made us feel at home. We had a pleasant conversation with her each morning while our food was prepared and had the small breakfast room mainly to ourselves during the time we chose to have breakfast. (Not quite sure if the Inn was very full at this time being that it was right after a holiday; but that didn't bother us, we enjoyed the quiet!)
As far as the breakfast food, we were under the impression that you order from a full menu, but that wasn't the case. Each morning, there is a set menu with two different items that you choose one item from. You may customize the (i.e. no meat or toast instead of croissant etc.). While I would have liked to choose from a larger menu (the pictures of different items on the website looked amazing) I can understand that for a small b&b, it's not so easy for one chef to cook multiple different items for so many guests in one morning; it's not practical. I feel its important for guests to understand this before going to the Inn in case that is an important factor for them.

In closing, I agree with all of the many positive reviews here and can say that no one will be disappointed if they stay here. We even talked to waiters, waitresses, tour guides etc about where we were staying and they all were very impressed reconfirming that it is one of the nicest Inns if not THE nicest Inn in Savannah! My husband and I left the Hamilton Turner Inn with many great memories of our stay in Savannah and hope to one day return to this wonderful city. And we will surely stay here again when we do return!

Room Tip: The Mary Telfair room was absolutely gorgeous and suited both my and my husbands needs and style. Th...

It took three trips in 20 years to "discover" what all the excitment was about Savannah. We found it by staying at the beautiful Hamilton-Turner Inn. Centrally-located, outstanding staff, immaculately cared for, and excellent food. Excellent in every aspect. Hosts Gay and Jim Dunlop are the reason for the 5-star rating. We appreciated every minute of our stay. As an added bonus, we thank Gay and Jim for their generousity toward the Katie Caples Foundation (organ awareness and donation) in the north Florida area.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong.

I was here on a girl's trip and we stayed in the carriage house. We had such a great time in no small part due to the attentive and accommodating staff of the Hamilton-Turner. They made excellent recommendations, reserved tours and restaurants for us and always kept our coffee cups full. . . even when we stayed waaaayyyy too long at breakfast. I cannot recommend this place enough. Located in beautiful Lafeyette Square, the breakfasts were delicious, the rooms were beautiful and so comfy, and did I mention the staff? They were so nice, genuine and helpful!! I can't wait to stay here again. Next time, I'm bringing my husband!

Room Tip: The whole carriage house can be rented and it sleeps 6 very comfortably.
