“Hamilton-Turner Inn is amazing”

We were graciously greeted my Mike and Mica with champaign and friendliness. My room, (Johnny Mercer) was better than the internet portrayed. Tall ceiling, four posted bed, and chocolate chip cookies. I had a welcome card with my name on it. I felt like the president of the USA in there. It was so grand. The courtyard was the perfect place to have our "to-go" BBQ dinner so we didn't have to stink up our room with BBQ. Breakfast that was served the next morning was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and attentive. The Inn is located in such a great (central) kind of location, it made it easy for me to take tours and walk around the neighborhood without having to spend money on a cab. Plus, St. John's Cathedral was right next door who's interior rivals those in England and Italy. I would definately stay there again if I had the opportunity, and I would suggested it to anyone else also.

The Hamilton-Turner Inn is a fabulous place to stay within the historic district of Savannah.
The fully restored Hamilton-Turner mansion is immaculate and quite photogenic from any angle.
The location is in the heart of the historic district, with most everything to see and do in the district within an easy stroll.
The rooms, even the smaller ones, are comfortable, clean and quiet.
The service is excellent, friendly and very accommodating from the innkeeper herself to the maid service. Your room is freshened up in the morning while you're having breakfast, and your bed is turned down in the evening while you're out for dinner.
The breakfast each morning is excellent, served in the inn's dinning room. Guest are seated at individual tables and the innkeeper graciously serves your table.
One thing to keep in mind, the inn has no parking lot. The parking lot behind the inn belongs to the Catholic church and is off limits to the inn's guests. Guest parking is limited to the streets along side the inn.
Everything about our stay was top notch. We highly recommend the Hamilton-Turner Inn to anyone planning a trip to Savannah's historic district.

The Inn is absolutely gorgeous. More beautiful than any of the pictures can portray. It sits across from LaFayette Square so the view is beautiful. The Inn is located in the historic district right next door to the Cathedral. It is in a great location so that we could walk anywhere that we wanted to go. We walked to the historic district as well as the City Market area and River Street. The staff was very accomodating to ensure that our stay was premier. We stayed in the James Oglethorpe suite and it was spacious and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable.

The high tea was amazing! The setting was perfect and Susie, Inn Keeper, was a gracious hostess for our family celebrating our 50th anniversary! The tea selection, as well as the very authentic food on lovely china, was exceptional. The Inn's high tea compared very favorably to any in England.

Majestic! This is the first word that pops up when I think back on our 3 days stay at Hamilton-Turner Inn in Savannah in late April. Lafayette Square, the mansion, the hall, the staircase, the lounge and of course our room, the James Oglethorpe suite, everything reflected the owners sense of quality and good taste. There was a splash of high society France over the Inn and the atmosphere in it. This is certainly not a place for vulgar laughter or loud talk. We loved it. We loved the elegant suite, the view of Lafayette Square through the big windows, the roomy bathroom, the social hour wine and cheese ("Cheese, My kingdom for a piece of cheese", We Northern Europeans eat cheese like Americans eats burgers) and the female Innkeeper, who served the breakfast with this relaxed and proud attitude that marks people who know what quality is. The breakfast was of course impeccably delicious served by the Queen of Hamilton-Turner Inn. A slight scent of Downton Abbey in eccentric Savannah?! Staying in Hamilton-Turner Inn is not cheap but the memory of a wonderful stay already has surpassed the deficit on my account.
This was vol. 2 of our odyssey to the distinguished inns in the Old South. The others are Charleston, Fernandina Beach and St. Augustine.

Perfectly situated on lovely Lafayette Square in the Historic District. Not too close to the raucous party atmosphere on River Street, but within walking distance of everything in the Old Town - couldn't wish for a better location.

Parking is on the street and can be a little annoying, especially on street-cleaning nights, when one or other of the side streets next to the inn must be cleared, but, for us, this really wasn't much of a problem, as we were able to park next to the inn each night of our stay, which included a weekend.

Our room, the Juliet Gordon Low, on the top floor, was well-appointed and comfortable, just a little small, which we expected. Bed was plush, very comfortable; slept well. Folks who have difficulty with lots of stairs may want to avoid the top floor, though - 12-foot ceilings mean long staircases. For us, it helped to work off some of the delicious food we took in here at the Inn and elsewhere in town. Inn staff carried our bags up and down.

Breakfasts were delicious - fresh homemade muffins, fruit, yogurt; chef-prepared hot dishes were some of the best on our trip. Good hot, strong coffee; selection of juices. We were never really hungry enough for lunch.

Architecturally, the old mansion really exudes the Old South, with the high ceilings, parlors with floor-to-ceiling windows, pocket doors in round-top doorways, fireplaces, not to mention the furnishings. Very impressive. An excellent choice - we would definitely return!

Room Tip: probably one of the larger rooms on the 2nd floor

Absolutely spectacular Inn at the perfect location. Gracious staff always ready to help, to serve and accommodate. Unfortunately we had a room downstairs, very dark and dungeon like. Although staff called it "period rooms" and some guests seemed not to mind. Very nice breakfast and afternoon "wine and snacks". Our room had a private entrance, which was a minor plus as Inn's doors are always locked. Next time we'll book James Oglethorpe room! Hopefully, as hotel was sold out during our stay.

Room Tip: Great rooms were Noble Jones and James Oglethorpe. Our room was Eli Whitey: very dark and small.
