“Nice, clean, great staff”

This little hotel was quite a suprise to find! Apparently used to be a Hampton Inn that has converted to a Red Roof Inn. The staff is definitely top notch! This hotel has outside entrances so I was a little hesitant but what a great treat! The roms were very clean and the staff seemed to offer assistance or a "hello" evry time I turned around! This hotel is located about 5 miles from the Historic district but had a shuttle that carried us there and picked us up....free!! We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget like we were! We will definitely be back and will stay at this hotel.. It was worth every penny. No frills but clean and extra friendly staff!

This motel was a nightmare from the start. The lady at the desk was not very friendly. The alarm clock was not set in the room. The remote control button for the tv alarm was missing. No wash clothes were in the room, so we had to request them. Telephone wasn't working, because it had been unplugged. The ice machine on the second floor did not work. After all this, I slept three hours due to excessive noise. People were shouting in the parking lot until after 1 am. When I called the front desk around 10.30 pm the lady I spoke to said she was sending around the security guard. I don't believe this person even existed there. The noise did not stop. At 11.30 pm I called the front desk again. I was told the security guard would check. After complaing about how ridiculous this was, the lady raised her voice and told me she couln't control other people's children. This placed should be closed down, Shame on Hampton, this ruined their good name for me. I have stayed at several Hamptons, and this was awful compared to previous experiences.

I booked a room with red roof for a very good price. I had my expectations which were pretty low but this red roof in midtown blew them away. The location on stephenson was great in which we easily learned our way around town. The morning continental breakfast was surprisingly good with a variety of different foods and beverages. My last red roof inn experience in ATL the breakfast was packaged pastries. This breakfast was great. Our room was nice and clean with a refrigerator and microwave which we used both during our trip. We met the house supervisor and I can't remember his name but was super nice offering us anything we need everytime we saw him. The staff seemed to work like clock work and always doing something. This hotel experience was a very positive one at that.

  • Liked — Friendly staff and microwave and refrigerator
  • Disliked — no wifi

Red Roof has been my favorite budget hotel for many years so I did not hesitate to find one for my one-day trip to Savannah. This is a standard property that has a small lobby and rooms on two floors. I requested a ground floor room and was obliged, although it was in the rear of the hotel. The room had a coffee maker and wireless internet. Both of these were welcome. TV had all the regular channels and worked fine. The front desk staff were pleasant and I was able to grab a muffin for a snack on the road. This inn was a bit more expensive that what I am used to but a fair deal given the midtown location. Free parking as always is a plus.

  • Liked — Location near to historic Savannah
  • Disliked — More expensive that most southern Red Roof Inns

We have stayed at this hotel for the last several years when it was a Hampton Inn. It changed over to Red Roof Inn in August this year. The room was the same, but we were greeted by a roach within the first few minutes....the only one we saw, but where there is one, there are others. The beds slept great, but there were no frills such as lotion or shower caps. The "breakfast" served on Thanksgiving morning was the bare minimum you can imagine. Boxed cereal, wrapped muffins and breads (which slices another visitor seemed to want to touch..every one!) Our real eye opener came when we returned to the room after a day of enjoying friends and family to find our room had not been cleaned up. The reason was that it was a holiday and one housekeeper was on duty. So, beware of holidays if you stay here. I think we have stayed our last visit there.

We now prefer to stay in the suburbs of Savannah, thanks to this affordable option-We were five minutes by car to the historic district-if you have a car, stay Midtown/Southside area-you will see the colonial mansions and dripping Spanish moss in two minutes of driving straight down Habersahm street which leads DIRECTLY into the Red Roof parking lot! (Free parking, of course!) Why would anyone(except those without a car, of course) pay on average $178.00 per night in the Historic District(add $12.00 nightly garage parking fees in most cases)! The prices in the Historic area(read MAJOR TOURIST TRAP) are equal to Miami Beach, and you are surrounded by fried fish joints masquerading as real restaurants filled with mass market tour bus people! Better to stay out in the suburbs, and drive around a bit-We intend to return to Red Roof every year from now on-We have no complaints-wonderful staff, great internet in the lobby for free, and when we requested extra pillows from the front desk, they were there in two minutes at our door with them! Red roof is in an UPSCALE area with a Fresh market gourmet grocery around the block! We found little Italian bistros around it also, filled with locals! All this for $65.00 a night with the AARP discount! We love you, Red Roof!

  • Liked — The location
  • Disliked — Bathroom was not scrubbed properly-mainly the sink-and the room needs more frequent vaccuming

This was a very nice place to stay. Clean room and comfy king size bed. Lots of hot water to take a shower in. The breakfast buffet was very nice. The only downside is that the bathroom is very small - a larger person would have a difficult time getting in the bathroom. But all in all, good experience.
