“Finally a Kimpton in Savannah”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2014

My wife and I are Kimptonites. We've been waiting for the Brice to open and have just enjoyed our first visit at the Brice. In the past, we've visited other brand new Kimptons and have learned to expect minor start-up inconveniences. But, we witnessed no wrinkles here at the Brice. They have it together with an enthusiast staff like Howie at the front desk. Also, hats off to Terrell (valet). You couldn't be greeted by a friendlier young man. He also referred to us by name, Mr and Mrs XXX, each time we came and went. I don't have to tell you how seldom that happens, nor how memorable it is when it does. Room and courtyard are awesome. My wife plans to redesign our house addition in progress to include a soaker tub/ shower combo like we found in our suite.

The Brice Hotel is magnificent! My husband and I celebrated his 40th birthday with family & friends at the adjoining restaurant, Pacci and ended the night with a room in the King Premiere Suite. It was a beautifully decorated room stocked with local edibles and a fridge stocked with various beer, juice & sodas.
The living room felt like home, with beautiful sofas, and a rocking chair plus a flat screen Samsung television. The bathroom you wouldn't believe!! There was a stand alone tub fit for two and a shower enclosed in glass. The king size bed with temper-pedic mattress was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in. We didn't want to leave the next morning:( We could've easily stayed another week or two. Totally worth the month.
There is valet parking when arrive at the hotel. Top notch all the way!

Traveling on business, I was excited to try out the new Kimpton property in savannah. The building is beautiful, entrance, and check-in looks great, and the courtyard is charming. Hotel has 3 floors, and I was on the 3rd. Room looks stylish, and all was well until I put on a robe from the wardrobe... Instead of the regular Kimpton animal print, these were pinstriped... Mine had makeup smeared down the front lapel, and I wasn't wearing makeup... I left it on the bathroom floor, in hopes of it making it to laundry instead of back in the wardrobe... Ordered room service- pasta, salad and dessert... Everything was well done. The bed was comfortable, and I had brought my own pillow...I was glad of this when I realized that half of the comforter smelled of someone's perfume...maybe the same person who had makeup on her robe... That grossed me out, so I tried to stay on the no - perfumed side... I won't stay here again... It looks cool, but the cleanliness issues turned me off...

Absolutely loved our stay at The Brice. From check-in process which was friendly, to happy hour with complimentary wine, the gorgeous courtyard complete with string lights, Pacci Restaurant (we had dinner and breakfast there - both excellent with fresh ingredients and good variety), to the rooms which were modern, clean and roomy. If I ever get the chance to be back in Savannah, I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Absolutely loved this hotel, when I typically don’t really enjoy hotels and am quite critical of them. In my opinion, it was the best part of Savannah! From the moment we arrived, the staff was pleasant, friendly, warm, and inviting; they even addressed us by name. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite because of our lengthy stay, which I have only experienced at one other hotel. The suite was contemporary, clean, and spacious. The shower was heavenly! The secret garden was our favorite place to enjoy our complimentary morning coffee/tea, complimentary evening wine, or just to hang out and listen to the relaxing music. Great find in Savannah! I would definitely return.

When I saw that Savannah had a newly opened Kimpton, the decision to stay was easy because I'm a dedicated "Kimptonite" - but after my stay at the Brice I'll have to rethink that.

The Kimpton penchant for choosing great locations and doing hip upgrades to older buildings that are hidden gems was evident at the Brice. The room was comfortable with a luxurious bed and high quality linens. The hotel restaurant served a very nice breakfast. Now if only I could have gotten some sleep it would have been the classic Kimpton stay.

When I booked, I requested an interior room based on the suggestions of Trip Advisor travelers. I was assured that all of the deluxe king rooms were interior. But when I got to my assigned room I discovered that it was on the second floor directly over the main entrance with lots of noise (and windows that did not block the sound out very well). I changed rooms to a 1st floor courtyard. Turns out that a music speaker was mounted on the wall just outside my room window and was at a volume so it could easily hear it over the TV. I didn't want to change rooms again and assumed that the music would be turned off when the restaurant and bar closed. Ah, dream on naive one! At 11:20 I called the front desk and explained the problem and asked when it would be turned off. They didn't answer, but said that they would turn it down; which they did. But I could still hear it (especially when my head was on the pillow) and feel the bass beat - great if you are clubbing but not so great if you would like to sleep. My spouse (who could sleep in a war zone) was oblivious, and at 2:00 am I schlepped to the front desk to AGAIN ask for the courtyard music to be turned off. As I passed the "secret garden" I saw that it was completely empty, yet the desk staff informed me that they couldn't turn the music off because people like the music on when they came in at night. Unbelievable. The clerk then quizzed me as though he doubted that I could REALLY hear the music and actually FOLLOWED me to my room to listen. I was pretty shocked by this and indicated that someone was asleep in the room and - no - he couldn't come in to verify my complaint. I got back in bed to listen to some more music and the phone rang. It was the front desk telling me that they turned the music down and checking to see if I could still hear it. Of course they woke my spouse up with the phone call so now we could both lie there listening to the music. Eventually they either turned it down more or turned it off because I couldn't hear the music by 2:45, but was so thoroughly annoyed that there was now no way either of us was getting back to sleep.

The next morning the courtyard was devoid of music but it was happily booming away in the lobby. This made me even more nonplussed. They could have easily have turned off the courtyard music and kept it on in the lobby after all. Why they refused to do this is a mystery to me. I'm all for cool ambiance but ultimately people want to SLEEP in a hotel room. BTW, the staff countered my complaint with "well, no one else has complained". GRRRRR! If I ran a hotel, this phrase would be forbidden.

I spent the next day sleep deprived and still fuming about the idiocy of my Kimpton encounter. :-(

Room Tip: Skip the "secret courtyard" unless you want to listen to mindless club music all night.

29Teddy- First and foremost, I sincerely apologize for the lack of quality service that you received during your recent stay at the Brice. As a seasoned "Kimptonite", you know as well as we do that we failed in our goal to be the most beloved and service oriented hotel company in the world. We did not live up to the standard that has been set at our other Kimpton properties, and we will work diligently to ensure we return to those levels.

I have reviewed the situation with my overnight team to ensure that guests comfort and sleep quality come as top priority. I have made it clear that this will not happen again in the future.

Although not the feedback that we prefer, we do appreciate the candid response nonetheless.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to discuss further, either via e-mail at ross.pattison@bricehotel.com or on my direct line at 912-629-9740.

Thank you again for the feedback, and I hope you give us another opportunity to rectify our mistakes. Take care and enjoy your holiday weekend.

Just stayed at the Brice Hotel in Savannah for 5 nights. After checking in and getting to our room we were shocked at the view and horrible decorations in this Kimpton Hotel. Coming from California and staying in several other Kimptons we expected SO much better. Definitely not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. The cheesy plastic decorations on the wall, the 4 post bed aligned to where you can't view the TV (at least hang it on the wall), the tacky shower curtain, the dumpster and green unfinished pool area as our view are just a few examples. We gave up after the 3rd time to relocate to a better room, with a somewhat better view. After trying to get a room at the Westin across the river and wasn't able too because of a large Corvette show going on.......we sucked it up and did the best we could with where we were. After several nights in the bar after going out for dinner, we had a change of heart. Didn't change the way we felt about the property but definitely about the staff they hired. One word......AMAZING!! There are no words to describe the bar staff. Sidney being the cocktail chemist, serving up great drinks with a flare; Brandon with his southern drawl in cowboy boots/wranglers, always working hard with a smile on his "baby" face. Beard one night, clean shaven the next!! Erin with her great work ethics making sure we always had what we needed, interested in conversation without loosing touch of her job, kept things very neat and tidy. And then there was Jodi.........Jodi being on a long vacation staying at the hotel, we could always count on him to be hanging out in the bar. Had some of the best conversations with Jodi and the other staff. They truly made us feel like we were family......for this we will forever be grateful of the staff at the Brice Hotel. You made a miserable experience into one of the best vacations!! Next time we come to visit, I expect a dog to be there with Jodi as it's master, the pool BETTER be finished, at least consider putting a fountain in the so called courtyard, think about removing Mr. Ed from your hallways, and have your exercise room completed so those of us who actually do care about our figures can burn some calories. We will be back, because if there is one positive I can say about the room, it had one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on!! Kudos for picking great bedding, and double Kudos for hiring a wonderful staff.........this alone will help your hotel as it polishes up the finishing touches that it so desperately needs.

Room Tip: Be sure you ask to be overlooking the courtyard.......otherwise your screwed, especially if the pool...

Dear Kelly V,

Ah, the words every general manager wants to hear about their staff: " Amazing!" Thank you for taking the time to tell us how we got you right as a guest; that is exactly what we strive for every single day, and I'll be to sure to share your compliments with every team member and department you highlighted. On the other hand, we are so sorry that the guest room decor didn't meet your expectations. As for the pool/fitness area, we're looking forward to its completion, and during the renovation phase, have tried to avoid placing guests in overlooking rooms. We're certainly with you in hopes that the pool and fitness center will be completed soon, and have our fingers corssed for a speedy construction. Once complete, we're confident we'll be able to provide you with a perfect stay!

We hope to see you again soon!
