This hotel was just fine. Great location, not too expensive, not too large, very nice staff. Extremely clean. I would stay there again.

I am very particular about hotels, and I love the Planters Inn. It's historic, charming, clean, friendly, cozy, and is in an awesome location in the heart of the Old City. And the price was very reasonable. The view of the parking deck wasn't ideal, but the curtains worked well.

I stayed here when this place first opened or wasa redone years ago and things have changed a bit.

Still a fairly decent place but I gave it a poor rating for several reasons and this hotel should take action before it before it goes into full decline. I thought the maintenance seemed spotty. Also, please note and be aware that most of the rooms here front a street which can be very noisy at night. For this reason alone, I will likely not return here and I think there are better options in this area for less money.

Also, the breakfast (if it can be called) that is dreadful and totally deficient, and I was not alone with this opinion. The wine and cheese hour is decent but they seem to pinch too many pennies in this place for my liking and the prices they are charging.

Room Tip: maybe stay on higher floor to reduce noise factor

I researched this hotel via TripAdvisor as I always do before we travel. The reviews are accurate. This is a great hotel in an excellent location - a short walk to most things one would want to see and right next door to The Pink House restaurant, which should not be missed if you are in Savannah. I would go back in a heartbeat.

The customer service by the staff at the hotel is excellent - as good as any we have experienced anywhere in the world. This is not a ultra-luxe, super-high-end hotel, and the customer service met or exceeded that we have experienced in hotels costing three (or more) times the money. It's an older building, so there is some minor interior noise inside the room and some exterior noise as well (we were on a low floor, which likely amplified the noise), but it is no different than staying in any older hotel in the middle of a city.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The furnishings, room size, bathroom set-up, and everything were very nice -- especially at this price point. They even throw in free wi-fi, free breakfast, and a free wine and cheese reception in the afternoons.

If you are going to Savannah, this is the hotel to book.

Room Tip: I would request a higher floor - the minimal street noise might bother a light sleeper on the lower...

Lovely experience. My husband and I met our daughter and son-in-law for a visit and we all stayed here. It was a very close walk to the river and the concierge's recommendations were wonderful. The rooms were comfortable and the decor pleasant.

Over the years, I have had several occasions to come to Savannah on business and pleasure. The Planters Inn is the very good bet.

The old adage about location, location, location is particularly apt. If you stay at a hotel down by the river, on Bay Street, Broughton Street, etc. you are guaranteed to have to deal with a lot of noise and traffic. The Planters Inn, on Reynolds Square, next to the Olde Pink House (we had a great meal there), though only a couple of minutes walk to anywhere, is a very nice respite from the hustle and noise. Perfect location. And it's just the right size for it to feel intimate and very unchain-like.

Our room was well furnished, very comfortable and very large. I had stayed here on business in the past and had a tiny room, so the extra space for the two of us worked out really well. Their tiny room was okay just for me, but for the two of us, the larger room was much more appropriate.

They have an included buffet for breakfast - just so-so, but there was enough to get the day started - and it was nice to get some real coffee and bring it back to the room than to have to futz with the little in-room coffeemaker. Same thing with the wine reception in the late afternoon - nice to have a glass of wine, but you'd only want to have *a* single glass of the stuff.

A few caveats:

Our room was wonderful, but the view was not - looked across the street into a parking deck. But, with AAA discount and booking 30 days in advance it was only about $140 per night with tax. If price is not a consideration, having a room overlooking Reynolds Square would be very, very nice. We just kept the drapery liner closed.

There is no workout room on-site. They used to have a deal with a gym close by, but with the downturn in the economy that gym has now closed.

The free wi-fi was fine, but if coming on business, be aware that the rooms have no desks. Our room had a round table, but it wasn't a work-desk, as such.

Enough of the minor complaints. I'm sure I'll have yet another occasion to return to Savannah, and will definitely stay here again.

Tip: There is no included parking. For valet parking, they will get you for $13.95/day plus tax, plus whatever tip(s) you give to the valet. A much better bet is to use the municipal parking deck on the opposite side of the Olde Pink House.

Too many others have said it better than I could, but it was delightful. We had an anniversary that we were celebrating while we were staying there. We asked for Room 301 or 302 and they accomodated us with Room 301. Great location within the heart of Savannah on a quiet square. If you take a guided tour, do the Old Savannah Tour - we got a little lost looking for the OglethorpeTrolley Tour - pulled into the Old Savannah lot and asked where Oglethorpe was - Old Savannah said they would match the tour price for the OglethorpeTrolley and besides theirs was a better tour - according to them. Well it was!!!! The tour guide/driver did not take a breath over the entire 90 minute tour - it was one of the best I have ever been on.

The Pink House Restaurant was next door to the Planters Inn and was fabulous - but you will have to read my review under restaurants to find out about that - It was great also.

Room Tip: 301 or 302 on up to 701 and 702
