Lovely, lovely hotel, but Very, Very loud at night if your room faces the parking structure. We read reviews before booking and read about the noise, but thought it couldn't be that bad and decided to still give it a try and ask for a room that would not be facing the parking structure. Upon arrival they said they could not accommodate this request, which was unfortunate. We can usually sleep and adjust to a little bit of noise with no complaint, but prior reviewers are right, these rooms get noise all night - honking, voices, alarms going off, cars zooming by. Most everything else about the hotel was nice - friendly front desk with a good dinner recommendation. Room was quaint (not large) and nicely decorated. Safe didn't operate correctly when we arrived and they immediately came and fixed it. It's a large enough safe that can accommodate a laptop. The lobby was small but inviting, with a nice complimentary wine and cheese Reception in the evening. Breakfast was buffet and complimentary, but just okay and located in a small enclosed area, with tight seating. Location was great and within walking distance to all downtown locations we wanted to go to (churches, stores, restaurants, squares, waterfront). Does not have a pool. We would consider staying here again but only if we were guaranteed a room that did not face the parking structure, and we would enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant instead of at the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the parking structure are VERY, VERY loud all night long. Honking, car alarms, talking/yelling, cars zooming around.

I never look at the cost of any stay, I look at the difference between staying in a "cheap sleep" and the quality property that is the alternative. The small difference in cost here more than makes Planter's Inn our first choice and having The Olde Pink House next door and Reynold's Square across the street make it our only choice in Savannah. Quality at every step - we love it.

I booked on expedia and had no idea what the hotel was like. The doorman/valet was very helpful, the building was beautiful and located on one of those "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" squares with the huge oaks and it even had a guy playing jazz on a sax...awesome!

The room was great and bathroom was big. Free breakfast had biscuits and gravy, sausage biscuits as well as fruit and cereal and muffins. Location could not have been better. 1 block off the main drag. I walked a few blocks to the Blue Moon brewery and had a good steak and some GREAT IPA!!!

I will return.

Room Tip: Be sure to have dinner at the "Pink House" next door to the hotel. I did not and I regret it now.

I recently stayed at the Planters Inn in Savannah, GA. It was a great experience. The Inn is a historic style inn with lots of detail. It's small, chamrning, and close to everything. The staff was especially professional and nice. There is a great wine reception every evening where it seems the whole inn gets together for chatting and hanging out. The concierge who hosts that party every night (I'm sorry I can't remember her name) is a lot of fun and very outgoing. I would definitely stay there again. And of course, there's no place quite like Savannah. While there please walk the grounds at the Bonaventure Cemetery. It's amazing.

Why stay in some oversized & impersonal cookie-cutter bigbox hotel in a city with as much charm as Savannah? Why not get great service and cultivated accommodations with a little afternoon wine & cheese, evening turndown service, a newspaper under the door and a complementary morning buffet nosh with some audacious soouthern help all thrown in for good measure? This 1912 slim 7-storey delight also is perfectly situated -- next door to The Pink House and just around the corner from the renowned Leopold's Ice Cream. ( If the stately Lucas Theatre across the square is hosting any sort of special screening or event, do take the time to view this incredible old movie palace from the inside).
