“Great location”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

We stayed two nights at the Planter’s Inn over the 4th of July weekend. The best thing about Planter’s is the location! Just 2 blocks down from Bay Street and right across from one of the squares. Also, next door to the Pink House Restaurant. Very nice lobby and furnishings and well-kept establishment. They offer a wine and cheese reception every evening, which is very nice, except for the lady that was serving the wine. She was kind of snotty and not very friendly for was she was supposed to be doing. Don’t know… maybe she was not happy that she had to work the 4th of July weekend.

They also offered breakfast, which was good except the room they serve it (Mezzanine) is not too big. So if you get there around 8:30 – 9 you might not get a table right away. But they do have a good selection of breakfast items, including hot and cold cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fresh fruit.

The only thing I really didn’t like about our stay was that our room was facing a multi-level parking lot. During the day if you open the drapes, anyone parking can clearly see inside your room. And one night we woke up to a car alarm that went off around 3’oclock in the morning and then another one around 6. That was annoying, especially if you are traveling with small children.

Be prepared to pay for valet parking because there is no parking onsite. Its $15 per day plus tip but there is no way around it. By the way, the valet boys were very very helpful and extremely nice.

And at night, if you are just walking in from a walk around town, you will be greeted by the smell of baked cookies! They baked fresh every night and set them in the lobby around 9pm.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the multi-level parking garage.

The Planters Inn was great! The staff were very accommodating with helping us schedule our short stay in Savannah. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The hot chocolate chip cookies were a surprise and a real treat and breakfast was filling. We were very happy with the great location of this hotel. It was a close walk to the waterfront and when we returned we stopped at the Pink House for a refreshment. Before walking back into our hotel we heard a violin in the park that we sat and enjoyed before retiring for the night. This hotel is on our return list!

When you look at the website the hotel looks very nice. Unfortunately it is misleading. The lobby is very small, the rugs are worn and need replacing and overall it was a disappointment. The rooms only have queen size beds or twin beds so if you are used to sleeping on a king it is disappointing. They promote a wine and cheese lobby experience which is also a disappointment. We were hungry when we arrived and realized there was not a restaurant at the hotel and only a limited room service menu available from the Old Pink House Restaurant next door. The price of the room compared to the quality of other Savanna hotels like the Gastonian,The Mansion and The Bohemian doesn't make sense to this fussy traveler.

Room Tip: Much nicer hotels are available.

My wife and I planned a quick over trip away for our anniversary. We chose this hotel based on a friend's recommendation. We were pleasantly surprised by its location to landmarks and ease to get to. Upon arriving on a Sunday afternoon, we found out that we couldn't check in early. However, the valet, Colby, was nice enough to check our bags in and assure us that the would let us know when our room was indeed ready. Not 20 minutes later, he called to let us know that it was ready when we wanted to return... This was still earlier than the advertised check in time, so we were very pleased!

We returned to the hotel thinking that we would have to get our bags and take them upstairs. However, Colby had taken them up to the room for us and met us at the door to tell us that we could go on up! Talk about service! We were very impressed at the location, price, and service we provided with! We ate at the Old Pink House and had ice cream at Leopold's (both of which were delicious) and returned to rest. Hotel staff delivered ice to our door when requested and was very friendly at all times.

We will definitely stay here again! Thanks to Mark for keeping this hotel running so smoothly and to Colby for making this stay even better!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor to get the best rooms with decent views

My wife and I visited Savannah, Ga for the first time last week...we were recommended to stay at Planters Inn...we spent 4 nights there and were completely satisfied with the treatment we received. Accommodations were perfect, room, ac, breakfast, etc...The personnel were great, the front desk, cleaning personnel, bellmen, and Karen....who was there to answer all questions, make restaurant reservations and suggestions, and organize afternoon wine and cheese party in the hotel lobby...All and all, Savannah was great, cannot wait to go back again real soon, and Planters Inn the only place to stay.....A place to recommend to friends and family...

Room Tip: room we had was great, for the two of us...

Planters Inn is a small, romantic, wonderful inn, tucked across from Reynolds Square. It is perfectly located for walking downtown Savannah. Although the hotel offers valet parking, a public parking garage is conveniently located one block away. Planters Inn is across the street from The Olde Pink House restaurant. The staff is helpful and friendly and not too intrusive. A quirky elevator that doesn't always take you to the floor you requested only adds to the charm. The breakfasts have great variety and are quite good. We felt pampered with the late afternoon wine and cheese and the evening cookies and turn down service. Our beautiful room overlooked the square on one side. The other windows looked out on a parking garage, but we were in our room so little that the view hardly mattered.

I decided to stay overnight at the Planters Inn on my way back from North Carolina to Florida. When I arrived I was greeted by a very friendly valet attendant who assisted with parking the car and offered to take the luggage up to the room. I arrived shortly before check in but luckily a room was available. The lobby is very quaint, the building is 101 years old but the upkeep of the property and grounds is rather good. I was on the 6th floor (Room 604) with a king size bed. Although the bed wasn't the most comfortable, it wasn't bad. The bathroom amenities were nice (gilchrist and soames) and the room was a good size for being older. I felt like I was staying in the room of a house rather than a hotel, which for this trip and location was a good thing. The hotel is very charming and boutique-y. There is definitely a spooky vibe to some areas of the hotel. It was fun to hear stories of reported haunted floors and stories from the staff, it defintiely gave some character to the hotel.

Room Tip: 6th Floor reportedly the most "haunted"
