“Close to River Street”
Reviewed 17 October 2012

We haved stayed at this HI several times. The hotel is always clean and they are located just across from all the shops and restaurants on River St. The hotel is also close to the squares in the historic district.

The staff is always friendly there, and they have a hot breakfast and a bar with TV's where you can watch sports. There is a pool and sitting area on the rooftop, which is a great place to enjoy the view of the river with a nice glass of wine.

Driving in to unload your bags can be a challenge due to the tight parking, and location of the hotel. Valet parking is recommended. Overall this hotel has a great location, nice staff and is a very good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room facing north (Bay St.). These rooms cost a little more but are more spacious a...

We were so fortunate to stay at the Hampton Inn on Bay Street. The location is perfect, giving easy access to River Street and the rest of the Historic District. With this location there is no need to rent a car. The breakfast was very good and all food was rapidly replenished. Rooms were very clean, as well as the pool and the lobby area. The assistant manager and his staff were the friendliest and most helpful that we have ever come across. They really made you feel at home.

We only spent one night at the Hampton Inn Savannah as we were just passing through, but I wish that we had had more time there. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome, check in was a breeze and our room was ready for us. We had requested a high river view room and that's just what we got. The room was clean - a double queen sized room as we stayed we had our 13 year old son with us and it had coffee maker, fridge, microwave etc.

The location of this hotel is perfect - right in the middle of things, close to River Street and all the beautiful squares in Savannah. We were able to walk everywhere and made the most of our time in this beautiful city. The hotel also has a swimming pool on the roof with beautiful views of the river and the Savannah skyline - although we didn't spend much time on the roof, it is well worth going up there just for the view.

Breakfast in the morning was great and there was plenty of food and the staff was attentive. If I am ever back in Savannah, then I will be sure to stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for a high river view

I just enjoyed a wonderful lady's weekend in Savannah with my mother, sister, and our pals. We shared two rooms in our memorable four-night stay at the Hampton Inn in the Historic District. My favorite part of our stay at the Hampton was the friendly, helpful, and hard-working staff. Everyone from the valet, breakfast servers, front desk, and housekeeping were extremely warm and inviting. From the cookies and coffee station to the valet desk, it was evident the staff was working as a team to ensure that everyone has great service and a great stay. After we checked out and had left the area, I realized I had forgotten some items in my room. When I called back, the house keeping office had found the items for me and got them ready to ship to my address first thing in the morning. How impressive!! Absolutely wonderful service all around!

This Hampton Inn is located in the heart of the historic district, between River Street and all the historical homes, parks, restaurants, stores, and churches. It is the perfect location if you are hoping to walk all around town. The hotel itself is great for the price, with exposed brick, hardwood floors, and my favorite . . . a rooftop pool.

If I ever come back, I will definitely look to stay here again. Best value in town!

It's not a bad spot, across from the river. Probably quieter further into the downtown area.Staff pleasant. Breakfast is that awful styrofoam plates stuff. All food and coffee is disposable. And that is fine, don't have high expectations .

Could not get a glass to have some wine one night.

Try Maxwells and Papplilote for food. You cannot eat or drink in the hotel.
And don't stray East west or south from the downtown area. It starts to get dodgy.

Staff are unfailingly pleasant and helpful.
Internet gets strangled at times.

Hey it's fine really, but don't believe it is anything more than it is- a basic Hampton Inn. It is not new at all. It is brown town in decor, but apart from occasional ship horns and traffic on E Bay St, it's quiet.

We stayed just for one night on our road trip and must say this hotel was just gorgeous. It clearly it still quite new so everything was like a shiny new pin. The room and en suite as perfect. We would have loved to have stayed longer.

We stopped in Savannah on our drive home to NJ from Fl. Checked out Trip Advisor and decided on this hotel based on reviews. We were so pleased with everything about the hotel. Very clean, very charming, nice rooms, friendly staff and includes a good breakfast. The location couldn't have been better. Right across from the river walk, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the city marketplace. Also, reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view if you are on river side of hotel.
