My husband and I usually stay at the Hampton Inn, but it was totally booked, so we decided to try this hotel. Upon arriving, we noticed that there were people walking their dogs right outside the entrance. They take pets and they don't limit them to certain rooms. They are allowed in ALL the rooms. Had I known this, we would not have stayed here.

Our room was not ready so we sat in the lobby and waited for 30 minutes. The room was a one bedroom suite, nice and large and appeared clean with no animal smells. However, apparantly a very large person had stayed in this room because the toilet seat was broken and the bed springs on one side of the bed were broken. When you sat on the bed, it almost dumped you in the floor. We also had to call maintenance to unstop the toilet.

Apparantly, there were a lot of the refugees from Gustav that came into the hotel that night. Quite a few families with lots of kids and the kids above our room sounded like they were beating on the floor with broom handles. A lot of running up and down the halls too.

We were going to stay four nights, but left after two.

Our party of 4 stayed in 2 rooms at this Marriott. We were in Ft. Smith to attend a wedding down on the river front at the RiverPark. Both rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, and each had tons of extra pillows. Our check in was easy and the front desk employees were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. This hotel appears to be fairly new and is very well maintained. The only negatives is that we were there on a Saturday night and the hotel was full and quiet noisy. The other negative is the location. It is a jewel in the otherwise depressing and scary area of downtown Ft. Smith. We were told that the downtown was severely damaged in a tornado several years ago and it is evident they haven't recovered as block after block have vacant, run down stores, Not a place to get out and take a walk after dinner. It is next to the convention center, so would be quiet convenient if attending events at the center. Very nice hotel in a not so nice neighborhood.

I have stayed at this hotel twice - about a year apart. Coincidentally, both times the fire alarm went off. The first time it was at 4 a.m. and the next time I stayed it was at 6 p.m then again at around 11 p.m. The staff was not helpful in providing an explanation. I find it ironic that it happened to me twice. I'm wondering if they have a problem with their system. Other than that, the accomodations were satisfactory and the location very good.

We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard booked thru Expedia - Stay for Breakfast for our 16th anniversary.
The hotel is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!! New, clean and plush. The rooms are wonderful, beds are soooo comfy and tons of pillows.
Breakfast is full buffet and if you can find the Stay for Breakfast you get it thrown in for the price. otherwise the breakfast is $20 ppsn.
lots of fresh fruits and eggs cooked to order--no precooked food!!!
The dining room is so elegant and you get full service and a beautiful view to eat your breakfast by.

Indoor pool, workout area, and several computers you can use to check your email etc. Complimentary coffee 24/7 and herbal teas. Little 'shop' that sells necessities you might have forgotten, toothpaste etc. or snacks.

The location is perfect. Next door to the convention center and down the street from all historical sites..
All Museums are open 7 days per week, from 9am to 5pm and after hours you can walk the grounds - many sites have recorded info built into the sites! Be sure and ride the historical trolley and also the regular trolley which gives you a free tour of all sites and historical housing district, very fascinating!! Take s you back to the Civil War!!!!! if you are a history buff you MUST do this.
I understand there is also a train that goes from Ft Smith to Van Buren (another historical town) which we plan on doing next time!! We literally ran out of time seeing all there is to see in Ft Smith. NOTE:

Two great restaurants nearby downtown are Belle Italia and Talianos..both owned locally by Italian Immigrant families and cooking at its best, elegant and both in old renovated historical houses.

Also nearby the West End Vintage Carnival.

Walking distance to River area, outdoor ampitheater, Miss Ellies visitors center (previously a bordello!) and more...

We went to the new part of town (down Rogers St) but i wouldnt bother again. The mall is nothing to write home about and the restaurants are chains, yuck . Also traffic is a nightmare. But if you drive this direction (N) out of town you will reach Ft Chaffee, the old fort which is an active Army Reserve base and you can visit the site which is being sold off.

On the Hotel---We will DEFINATELY stay here again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed at the Fort Smith Downtown Courtyard for several nights during consecutive weeks from late January-mid February 2008, while on business in Fort Smith. My experience with this hotel has been fantastic. The property has always been consistently clean and well-maintained, and the service has been excellent. During my second week at the hotel, some of the staff at the front desk and in the restaurant/bar remembered my name from the previous week--it's hard to find the personal touch like that nowadays. Not that I would want to eat at the hotel's restaurant all the time, but the food was pretty good--the breakfast bar was consistently good, and on the one occasion I ordered room service for dinner (a salad), it wasn't bad at all. I would definitely stay at the Downtown Courtyard again, and recommend it to others.
