We've stayed at Phoenix Inn probably over a dozen times totalling several months over the last few years. We keep coming back because we usually pay about $60 a night for a solid 3-star hotel in a perfect location for us. Phoenix Inn includes a very nice free buffet breakfast with waffles and sausage biscuits, biscuits and gravy, etc - and on weekends throws a change-up with breakfast burritos.

The bedding is super comfortable, I don't want to get up. Cable TV, Free Wireless Internet that always works flawlessly, a nice desk to work at, clean and fairly updated bathrooms and bedrooms. Large rooms at about 375 square feet, usually with a sofa or separate work area, mini-fridge, etc. Convenient printing service where you can print from your room for free. Fed Ex is next door, and you can walk to several restaurants to eat. The I-205 freeway is a couple blocks away, and Fred Meyer and other stores, as well as a pub, a Starbucks, and gas stations are within a couple blocks.

The downstairs rooms are pet-friendly, which isn't a plus for me, but is for many people - if you don't have pets, make sure to ask for an upstairs room - they are more recently renovated and don't smell like dogs.

This is a 3-star hotel, not a 5-star hotel, but this hotel is a great value for business travelers, in a convenient location and quite comfortable.

We've been to this Phoenix Inn several times and we've never been disappointed. We visit family in Northwest Portland, but we still think it's worth the extra 10 minute drive to this quiet hotel (10 minutes from the airport). The Phoenix Inn sits back behind a restaurant along a main drag in Vancouver so there are many good restaurants and stores near by, including 3 restaurants in walking distance and Trader Joes across the street. The hotel backs up to an enormous office complex surrounded by acers of parking lot, (empty on evenings and weekends) so the back of the hotel is very quiet. Ther rooms are spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The pool and spa area are also clean and updated. I used the exercise room for the first time this trip and was impressed with selection of newer equipment.

We looked into staying at a budget hotel closer to our family (right on the freeway as many of them are), but when we looked into it, the Phoenix was cheaper, and the prices went down on the weekend. Why would we stay anywhere else?

Hotel tips: Ask for a room on the backside of the hotel for a quieter stay. Also, avoid the rooms right next to the elevators. The beds are covered with down comforters and feather pillows. If allergies are a problem, ask ahead of time for cotton blankets and nonallergetic pillows.

Vancouver tips: We enjoyed the Thai Terrace restaurant near Fred Meyers just off 205.
Safeway down the street has a nice, inexpensive floral department. Bring your own vase and they will arrange your chosen flowers for free.

Staff at front desk were very accomodating and friendly. Beds are extremely comfortable with nice comforters. couch and desk in room were nice also. Hotel was quiet at night without disturbances. The room was not as clean as it should have been, looked like someone cleaned it in a hurry. In particular drinking glasses and coffee mugs did not look like they had been cleaned. The breakfast was somewhat of a disappointment. The coffee and scrambled eggs ran out. After several minutes the coffee was brought back out. We finally gave up on eggs about 20 minutes after being told more were coming. One huge improvement would be to add more toasters. Currently there are only two toasters for the entire breakfast area, so the line can get pretty long. Worth the wait for french toast though.

Booked a stay here through Hotwire, got a smokin' deal and ended up staying here on my return trip because of the experiences of the first stay! The whole place is very clean and well kept. Room had a better than good feel about it. Most Inns have some form of hotel feel and smell to them, this place felt airy, clean. The location and locale was perfect for my visit, close to all kinds of resturants and stores but not crowded in, easy access to HWY 205 and only a few minutes from the airport, but it's not one of those airport hotels. The staff was a stand out. They excelled at everything! I really enjoyed the breakfast. Spacious breakfast room, not crowded, and all selections well presented, fresh, clean and well stocked. Whoever runs this place cares and the staff supports them. Internet access in the lobby. Quality stay!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights on a week getaway to the Northwest. I picked the hotel based on reviews and for the great price. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to others as I think what happened to us was an exception. We had a room that smelled so horrible the second day when entering that my husband gagged (it smelled a little the first day but I could live with it). There was also what we thought was blood on the down comforter, but didn't bring that up initially as it very well could have been a food stain- we didn't want to overreact but did point it out to the cleaning staff when they were searching for the smell (they thought possibly the prior guests had something in the fridge that had leaked and started to rot). The smell couldn't be avoided though, so we ended up switching rooms. The second room was fine and comfortable, but the people above us had kids that were jumping around a dog that barked until close to midnight and we had to call the front desk. I did like the second room, hot tub, and especially the washer/dryer (only 75 cents each) and would stay here again considering I don't think the smell is a normal occurence.

We were pleasantly surprised with this family recommended hotel. I expected a basic 3* hotel and a clean room for the price we paid. We got a huge and comfortable room, all the amenities, a pool/gym, very generous breakfast buffett from cold cereal to hot waffles, and even warm cookies in the afternoon. The staff were very friendly and attentive (apart from one) and the free Internet service came in very handy. Thank you!

What a great place to stay.. the bed was sooooo comfy. Not only was the mattress soft but the bed had a wonderful soft fluffy duvet. Pool is indoors so useful anytime of year. Breakfast buffet was well stocked. Would stay here again anytime.
