Once again, locals here in Vancouver, WA just don't know any better. A lot of other comments about this place say that it is outstanding, it's NOT! There is no way that this place is a "gourmet delight" if you have dined in New York City, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco, or Los Angeles like I have, and I'm not talking about 5 star restaurants here. More like 2 or 3 star ones. This one is a two star at best.

I start out at a new (to me) restaurant by ordering simple dishes, figuring that if they can get it right with the simple, then most likely the complex will be pretty good. Meatloaf and mashed potatoes for $17, really? Here, their meatloaf was plain old meatloaf that I can get in a dinner for under $12. My wife had their fish stew and it had only one shrimp in it (one) for $19. No bread comes with any of the meals, but you can a few slices for only $2 more. The food for the most part is fair to good, but the prices are high for what you get.

This restaurant is localed inside their parent hotel so you get to pay the higher prices for the convince of eating where you stay for the night. The service is good, as is the atmosphere, but I rather have a little better quality food to go with them for what they charge.

We always appreciate feedback from seasoned dinners and foodies alike. Yes, we are a destination restaurant with CIA trained chefs and are often compared to restaurants that hold the covented Michelin Stars(see critiria below), we do try to keep it simple with focus on local sustainable ingredients. " Hand Crafted American Cuisine in a Rustic Lodge Setting". Many of our locals apprecate the value we provide with generous portions and realize that a comparable stand alone restaurant would be much more expensive with the same ingredientsna professional execution. This is why so many of our regulars stay in Vancouver or even make the trip over the river from Portland.

Michelin Stars Defined

Michelin awards 0 to 3 stars on the basis of the anonymous reviews. The reviewers concentrate on the quality, mastery of technique, personality and consistency of the food, in making the reviews. They do not look at interior decor, table setting, or service quality in awarding stars, though the guide shows forks and spoons which describes how fancy or casual a restaurant may be.

The stars are awarded as follows:
•One star: A good place to stop on your journey, indicating a very good restaurant in its category, offering cuisine prepared to a consistently high standard.
•Two stars: A restaurant worth a detour, indicating excellent cuisine and skillfully and carefully crafted dishes of outstanding quality
•Three stars: A restaurant worth a special journey, indicating exceptional cuisine where diners eat extremely well, often superbly. Distinctive dishes are precisely executed, using superlative ingredients.

Michelin also awards a "bib gourmand" for quality food at a value price. In New York, that would be two courses plus wine or dessert for $40 or less, excluding tax and tip.

These stars are coveted because the vast majority of restaurants receive no stars at all. For example, the Michelin Guide to Chicago 2014 includes almost 500 restaurants. Only one restaurant received three stars; four restaurants received two stars; and 20 restaurants received one star.

My family and I really enjoy Hudson"s. The atmosphere is pleasant and the food in enjoyable. Very relaxing. Service is good. My son loves their version of mac and cheese even though it is made with different noodles every time, it's a cheesy gourmet mac!

Nice variety of food and reasonable drink specials. However, if there is a meeting or conference at the hotel, the bar/lounge area will fill up fast and you may find people hovering for your table.

Excellent food and choices, great service, nice informal, yet classy ambience. Breakfast and lunch are average prices. Dinner is expensive, but worth every penny.
