I had the grilled halibut salad. It was great! I was not sure what to expect but it turned out great. Great atmosphere. I was there in the early evening so they were not busy yet. Good visit with the chef.

This should be featured on a "Diners Drive-ins & Dives" episode! Located next to an interesting bar in downtown Vancouver, Mama's & Boomers share their space. Mama cooks the meals for Boomers, and patrons of the restaurant can order drinks from Boomers. Don't let outside appearances for either place scare you away. Inside you are transformed to a small comfortable family joint in New Orleans. The menu is extensive and full of good southern home cooking. LOVED the fried catfish & collard greens, and looking forward to trying the jambalaya next time. Even the burgers get your mouth watering. Chef Joseph promises real southern fried chicken starting soon- and I'll be there! Breakfast menu looked good, especially knowing you can get a Boomer's bloody Mary..... This place has made it by word of mouth alone, but pass the word! It's so nice to find real, good & casual food for a decent price downtown!!

Mom and I just happened upon this place. Chef Joseph was walking down Main St looking very confident and "chefy"- we followed.
We ate a down-home cooking meal of garlic pork roast, collard greens and mashed potatoes with gravy. For dessert; divine bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
We have found our new favorite restaurant. Food was amazing and owners are personable and friendly.
Looking forward to trying breakfast.

Recently ate at Mama's Kitchen. Fried catfish, jambalaya and coleslaw were all delicious. Don't sleep on this little quaint spot in Vancouver. Check it out soon and tell a friend. They serve Breakfast, comfort food and some Southern/New Orleans favorites. For those that know "real/authentic" creole/New Orleans style cooking and how it should be prepared and how it should taste...this is the spot hands down!
