“This place is AWESOME! A lovely respit.”
Reviewed 25 March 2006

I have been a regular guest at The Samuel Sewall Inn since mid February and couldn’t be happier! The Inn keepers are very hospitable… the rooms (and beds) are very comfortable… clean… and well kept. The FULL breakfast is always fresh… well prepared… varies every day… and is not your typical “muffin & coffee”. This is one of the more comfortable Inn’s I have visited throughout the U.S. (and I have stayed at many). I wouldn’t suggest this Inn (or any Inn in Brookline for that matter) for a romantic stay, however, don’t take that as a deterrent; after all, the location is in Brookline, not Bermuda (keep that in mind if you are looking for the Jacuzzi tub & spa scene). The décor is lovely and tastefully accented with period antiques. Tea, coffee, and cookies are available for guests to enjoy day & night.

In Boston, The Samuel Sewall Inn is HANDS DOWN the absolute best Inn. One block from the T for easy transport… walking distance to many shops and restaurants (Coolidge Corner)… and easy access to Boston University, Harvard, or Longwood Medical. Oh yea, wireless internet is also provided at no additional charge… as well as turn down service with chocolates on your bed every night.

This Inn is much more than just a “nice place to stay”: it’s a home away from home with an extra Bam! After all, when I am home I certainly don’t get chocolates on MY bed every night!... do you?

After browsing their website and paying a higher rate than most B&B's in the area, I have to say I was suprisingly disappointed. The website mentions several amenities including luxury items which I did not see. The pictures of the rooms posted online were much nicer than in person. As a matter of fact, the room I reserved based on the picture, did not look like the same room I was taken to. There were alot of missed details such as one drinking glass for two people. There was nothing about the Samuel Sewall that was impressive other than the wood burning fireplace, although, the matches did not light (good thing I had a lighter!) My companion compared the Inn to a funeral home. We decided to spend another night in the area and stayed at a lovely B&B around the corner. This other Inn was less expensive and offered many more amenities than the Samuel Sewall. We were very impressed and would most definitely return to this other B&B and recommend them highly.

This Inn is conveniently located 1 block from the T trolley. It is in a neighborhood setting on a busy street. This street calmed down in the evening and the inside of the Inn is quiet. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast was good. As Boston is incredibly busy and crowded, this Inn offered a great retreat. We would stay here again.

Great location, walking distance from downtown Boston. Cozy home-like feel with superior customer service and our junior suite was perfect.
The next time I will surely return to my "home away from home"

Not a "ma and pa" place. Rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor. Fairly large with a nice bed, tv, and phone. Parking limited. Breakfast very crowded with some guests holding their plates or bowls on their knee while sitting on a sofa or chair.
