This very busy restaurant in Coolidge Corner area of Brookline is often full (and occasionally closed on Mondays and at odd times; best to call ahead). The menu changes from day to day. Ate here with a group of friends. Two of us had the hake, which was excellent, served with a small serving of fava beans and fingerling potatoes (like, 4 potatoes). Two of the group really enjoyed their lobster tacos (one as an appetizer, the other as their main course). Service was attentive, although the food took a while. Prices are about what you'd expect for a higher end establishment (e.g., the romaine salad is 4 pieces of romaine lettuce and 3 spears of asparagus for $10), but the atmosphere is nice (even at the bar end). The server didn't even blink an eye when our group pulled out one wad of cash and 4 credit cards, promptly returning with 4 receipts evenly dividing out the remainder after the cash amount was deducted. I was impressed! This is the 2nd time I've eaten here of the years and been pleased both times.

Excellent food choices, wine choices, great service-- waiters wear long aprons-- a little formal flair?

Lineage, a restaurant, steps off Beacon St, and Coolidge Corner in Brookline is everything a great restaurant should be (and is).

Firstly, the food is divine. Every dish I've been served in this wonderful restaurant has been outstanding. Fresh ingredients, imaginatively prepared. Seafood, raw and cooked is superb.

Lobster is easily overpowered with too many ingredients which would mask it's delicate flavor. This does not happen to lobster preparations at Lineage. Lobster risotto was beautifully presented with cipollini onions and a fresh bit of fennel and was superb.

On another occasion ordering another risotto preparation was an ethereal experience. The risotto served was a preparation with black truffles, black oyster and black trumpet mushrooms, the very definition of delicious winter mushrooms; a most delicious and superb presentation.

The staff are friendly, professional and appear and disappear without attitude. Service is prompt.

Hats off to the owner and managers, and all the staff at Lineage.

If you want to find a culinary home in Boston, make a reservation at Lineage.

You will savor the experience and it will be memorable rather than mediocre!

Highly recommended!

Staying nearby for a little getaway. Saw this on TA and booked a table. 20 minutes we were sitting down to dinner. On a Tuesday night in March, your mileage may vary.

Two sides: bar side and quieter side. We were seated on the bar side. Background music and muted TV, but still quiet enough. Could carry on a conversation.

Service was prompt and friendly. Menu had a price fixe option that looked like a real deal. But we opted for different options ala carte.

Had mussells and cous cous in a cream sauce appetizer that was delicious.

I had a wonderful grilled salmon. My wife ordered a cod that was delicious and huge. Delicious and big portions. My kind of place.

No room for dessert. (We'll have to go back for that.) Had to walk off dinner, not hard to do in Coolidge Corner.

Very nice place. Great value.
